How about a thread to congratulate those of us who had some success's in 2012. I am needing a bit of a kick in the butt and enjoy reading about other triumph's.
So perhaps just pick your #1 success in a sentence or two and post it here. |

Good idea, I keep getting wound up about how much I fell off the wagon and gained over Xmas and new year. But saying that.... I still managed to lose a total of 40lbs in 2012!!
And I am pretty darn chuffed with that |

Love this!
My sucess is losing 51 Lbs since May 21st, going from a tight size 16 jeans to a size 8 and even 1 pair of size 6 jeans! Size xl shirts to size Mediums! Shoe size even went down Lol! I think a Huge sucess for me is that I discovered a few things too, like I Can live without potaotoes, rice, noodles and sweets! That I can make Wonderful, Yummy sweet treats that satisfy me and are Good for me. But most importantly I discovered that I AM worth taking care of myself! That I do deserve to be healthy and thinner and that i'm not a slave to what I thought I had to just "live with" and i'm Not compared to my short round Grandma Anymore! ![]()

Hi Shelly,
Your results are amazing and worth celebrating and I think what you said about the mindset is so important: "That I do deserve to be healthy and thinner and that I'm not a slave to what I thought I just had to "live with". . . After all, our thinking creates our reality. Bravo! |

I got serious again in 2012 and stopped the steady weight gain. Lost 23 pounds and although I am struggling just a bit right now, I've been accountable to myself this whole time and feel really good. I'm dating now and it feels awesome to wear all the cute little size 6 dresses in my closet.

My total for 2012 was 35 pounds. I gained 5 pounds between Christmas and New Year's Eve (mostly water weight). I have since lost 2.4 pounds.
Like PrincessMommy stated, I AM worth taking care of myself. I will continue with this woe because eating the old way/stuff makes me feel awkward. Most of all, I am happy!!!! |

WOE: Nutritional Ketosis/Primal/JUDDD

In 2012, I lost 54 pounds, found nutritional ketosis and JUDDD as ways to help me keep losing when just lowcarb was not enough, went from a size 24 to a size 14, and feel so much better, mentally as well as physically. This is also the first year that haven't gotten sick at all--not even with the sniffles--so this way of eating is definitely good for my immune system. Plus, all my biomarkers, such as lipids and blood pressure, improved significantly. And the quality of the food that I eat--prepared at home, with no grains or sweeteners or artificial ingredients, with lots of cream, cheese, grass-fed meat, wild-caught fish, free-range poultry, nuts, coconut, and organic vegetable--is much more delicious than the "healthy whole grains"/lowfat convenience food sort of diet that I was eating before. And I felt comfortable enough in my smaller body to start doing strengthening and stretching exercise routines regularly. So lots of successes for me ...

WOE: JUDDD for WL/5:2 IF for maintenance
|
My success is that I finally got off my bum and decided to get my weight under control, before it got worse. The trend among the women in my family is to start out slim, start gaining in their 30s (after they have children), and then by the time they hit their 40's they're obese and start having health issues. I could see that's exactly where I was heading and decided to not go there
Since October I've found a woe I can do long term and have lost 23 pounds. Have a few more pounds to go and then on to life long maintenance ![]() |

Wow, congrats to all of you on your accomplishments in 2012. I am feeling better and more motivated already.
I have struggled a bit with weight gain this year and after a Hydrostatic Body Composition test my worst fears were confirmed. However, I now have clear goals and need to put in some milestones. The only thing lacking is finding that spark that has been dormant the last 4 months or so. So far just been going through the motions and not really pushing myself. |

I came back to LC on Sept. 3 for health reasons, to get tighter control of my diabetes and perhaps get off of some of the BP meds I am on.
Since then I have lost 25 lbs, improved diabetes control and going to get an appt. soon to see the Dr. to go over my medications. |

I made it to my goal weight of 135lbs by Mid-September and have ended up 7lbs under goal and am happily maintaining my loss. My goal for this year is to start exercising which I have not done yet, so I need to get on it!

I lost 46 pounds since July 1st, which is really amazing for me since I have traditionally been a slow loser.
Best of all I finally found a diet where I can lose weight successfully without developing an eating disorder and psychological torture from the gnawing hunger. It's been a breeze because of the appetite suppression and the delicious food allowed in high enough amounts that I'm satisfied. I'm very hopeful I can continue to enjoy eating this way going forward. |

2012 was a great year for me! Found my way back to low carb in June and have lost over 25 pounds by November. My plans for 2013 are to tone and continue this WOE, if I don't lose another pound I will be okay with that. I feel great about myself and it shows

I lost 59 lbs and dropped from a tight 18 to an 8.
I took 40 Pilates classes and lessons. I increased my cardiovascular health, from barely being able to walk 2 MPH (with my heart rate through the roof) to 4.5 or 5 MPH to get my heart rate up - and I can maintain 4MPH easily for extended periods of time. 7 months without a head cold. And, I finally managed to flip a switch from thinking about foods I can add "in moderation" in maintenance to truly thinking and believing that low carb is my lifestyle. Because, let's be real, if I could do moderation, I would not have had the excess weight to lose in the first place.

I lost 70 pounds in 2012.
![]() However, I consider my biggest success discovering this low-carb lifestyle. I now KNOW and believe that I can get all this weight off and keep it off. I've never had this level of confidence before. |
