Flax meal?
Ok, so...I had a brilliant idea to start to incorporate flax into my diet. I'm on induction, so I added two tablespoons to my protein shake tonight. That was a HUGE mistake....and my tummy is NOT happy now. I had no idea it would cause stomach upset....
So... Did I just start off with too much? How can I use this in other ways? I really liked it as an addition to my shake. I was definitely full after drinking it! |

I eat 1/2 cup of flaxmeal a day. So I am surprized to hear that 2 tbsn set you off. It may just be that your body is not used to the added fibre. Give it a day to clear and then just try adding 1 tsp. Gradually you can try adding more and maybe spreading it throughout the day instead of eating it all at once.

Look for recipes for 'flaxmeal muffins' and others....yes, that much fiber in someone who's been maintaining a lowcarb way of life would be a 'shocker'.
You'll also want to make sure your intake of fluids goes up to compensate for the incoming flaxmeal. I can't eat a lot of it...and my diet is about 70% fat, 25% protein/rest carbs. |

I'm very sensitive to flax also...i use only one tbls in my almond muffins and my tummy still rumbles. I don't think will ever be able to do more than that tbls. I have trouble with fiber in general tho. Even if it comes ftom certain veggies.

I eat flax crackers in place of bread and have not had any problem with flax. But I know that your body can need some time to adjust, anytime you modify the amount of fiber you eat substantially. Sounds like a good idea to cut down do 1T, and if you still feel bad that way, down to 1 t. and work up to more if you want to.

Hmmmm....no problems here.
I used ground flax seed alot when I first went lc. I made flax pancakes and ate them like tortillas Never had an issue. I use it mainly now for the fiber content. I just sprinkle some on whatever I'm eating. I like the nutty flavor and texture. |

I cant eat flax at all. It bloats me and stalls my weight loss. I seem to be in the minority but it does happen with some so tread lightly.

I put some in my omelet/scrambled eggs every morning. Makes them fluffier.

It has never bothered me, but I use it mainly in recipes versus a shake. Not sure if that could be the difference. Maybe it will...ahem...clear things out and give you a clean slate to work with? Hope your tummy feels better soon.
