What is your daily calorie and carb limit if you have one?

I know some of you count carbs only but there are a few that count carbs and calories.

What is your daily calorie and carb limit?

Right now I'm not counting calories but I'm staying below 20 grams of carbs daily. Although, After reading through Sting's post I may start counting calories again just to make sure I'm not overdoing it.

The first time I did Atkins was 14 years ago. Back then I thought that while one should not gorge themselves, calories still didn't really matter, you would still lose weight as long as you stayed below 20 carbs.

I've have lots of new research to do

When I first started Atkins, I too thought that calories didn't matter. But I found the more weight I lost, that keeping just carb counts low wasn't enough; I had to start "limiting" my calorie count too.

I say "limiting" because currently anything under about 2400 calories (along with 30 to 40 carbs) seems to work. But when I drift closer to 2800 calories, it doesn't matter what the carbs are, I won't lose weight.

Well I'm pregnant, fairly young (26), and highly weight reduced (maintaining a now-93 pound weight loss accumulated over the last four years). So what I'm tweaking, right now, may be different than what helps you.

That said, my total carbs are between 40-60 grams a day right now (I just recently upped them after being at induction levels) and I stick to between 1800-2000 calories a day, with moderate exercise most days. This is helping me maintain/lose extra first trimester indulgence weight right now. If I wasn't pregnant, I'd be doing the same calories as a ceiling, but induction level carbs.

I've only been doing Atkins fir 6ish weeks so i am no veteran, but i have been consistently losing by keeping my carbs at 20 and calories around 3000 per day with very little exercise. Everyone is different and there are alot of factors that determine how much fuel your body needs.

I'm 5'4 and about 120-125 pds with very small bone structure, so I HAVE to keep track of calories since my BMR is only around 1300-1400/day (according to which sites you look at). Its so easy for me to eat 2500 cals a day because of fat. I try to stay under 1800 and under 20g carbs everyday.

I don't actively count calories, but looking back at my food diary, I seem to keep them consistently below 1200, but there are days every now and then when they're a little higher. Carbs are always below 30g, mostly below 20g.

as i just recently re-joined WW...

I see to it that i do not go over my daily points (currently 60). as I lose, that # will diminish. As for carbs, I see to it that I do not go over 40-50 net grams, most of which come from salads and vegetables. I usually do not approach anywhere near it.

I have to drop my calories way down, and not eat too many veggies or meals that involve recipes, to lose pounds.

I'm still trying to drop these last pounds, so as of right now I try to have less than 25 net carbs a day (usually I never go above 20), and no more than 1,200 calories. I will probably raise this to 1300-1400 calories when I start maintaining/exercising!

During weight loss, stayed at about 1200 calories and had about 10g total carbohydrates most days.

Now I am tweaking for maintenance and am experimenting with allowing myself 1500 calories, but most days don't even make 1400. Also allowing myself 25 g of net carbs, but most days am still well below 20 total.

I am one of those folks who is definitely resistant...and have hypothyroidism and meds fighting the weight loss, too. So I have to watch what I'm eating, and try to keep my carbs under about 10 total (not net carbs--I count them all, trying to get as close to zero-carbs as possible) Calories...in the 1200-1500 range most days.

I stall or start gaining if I go high fat/low carb so those calories mostly come from lean meats & eggs, a little dairy, and very little veggies (mostly just condiment-quantities on the veggies, like a little salsa so I can swallow that dry meat)

It's not a fun way to eat, except for that part about getting on the scale each morning and seeing at least a little loss most days

I have it set to 1900 calories and 20 carbs. If I go over I don't care and if I go under I am pleased. I like to keep track but don't kick myself in the pants if I go over. If it's weeks of going over, then ok. I can see that I've been doing bad and can fix it. Love ***!!

I know my cals need to be kinda lower to lose good weight for me.

So I definitely limit my carbs to 20-25 per day for now. Need to shed those pounds and all the while, I do not count calories, but I keep picking the best food choices to keep the calories on the lower side.

I was tracking my food pretty closely in one of those online trackers and usually was around 1400-1500 calories and 20-30 carbs per day when I was in lose mode. I did have days where I had up to 50 g of carbs, if I ate popcorn.

I did a couple of "episodes" of fat fasting, which meant my carbs were under 10 g or less and calories were around 1000-1100. I lost nicely doing that but only did it for up to a week. It's a great way to reduce your appetite because the fat is so satisfying. But the menu is so limiting, it's hard to do for long periods of time.

Now that I'm trying to maintain, I'm experimenting with how many carbs I can have and it's around 60-70 g. I haven't watched the calories as closely so I can't really tell you what those are at. But I am paying attention to when I'm hungry and stopping when I'm full. I am still not eating flour, sugar, rice, etc. so these carbs come from veggies (tomatoes and onions, some of my favorite veggies, are higher carb) and the occasional low carb tortilla. Hidden carbs also sneak up but I've been doing it long enough that I know what those are.

I am really fortunate in that I don't have any outstanding health problems that I'm trying to combat also. From what I understand, that throws a big monkey wrench in everything and makes it tougher.

I haven't really been counting calories, but I think I'm going to have to start since I hit a bit of a stall. Carbs are usually kept around 30 or so. If I go over that I fall out of ketosis.

I am very lucky and, at this point in my life, don't need to restrict my calories beyond what my appetite naturally restricts me to. (I realize that may change with age, menopause, other things.) But I have counted my calories a few times out of curiosity, so I thought I'd share in case you'd find that helpful.

1800-1900 calories
7-10% carbohydrate (typically 35 grams per day)
15-20% protein
the rest from fat

I'm 38 years old, 5' 8.5" tall, slender build, usually wear a size 4 (though that can vary a lot by brand) and weigh somewhere around 132 (not sure because I don't weigh myself any more except when I see a doctor). I got up to 148 at my heaviest, and I've been able to lose and maintain to my current size and weight by eating as described above. I was originally hoping to get my weight back down into my 120's, where I was before my daughter was born, and I probably could do that if I restricted carbs/calories even more. But I decided that I'm happy at this size, and I'm happy eating this way, so why push it?

I'm on about 20 carbs daily and according to ****** my calories are usually under 1400. If I go below 1200 I will usually have something extra to eat. I'm on my third week of Atkins so I am interested to see if I have any loss at the end of the week. It worked, however, for induction as I lost 14lbs in the first 2 weeks. Yes, some of that was water but still I'm happy with the loss.

I haven't been tracking calories, but I have been tracking sugar grams. It's crazy how much sugar is in stuff, even things that are healthy (veggies like onions, eggs, deli meats etc).

points are a quantified # that WW uses.

every food (and they go into great detail that includes most fast food joints)is assigned a points quantity(per portion). As one loses weight, the daily points total diminishes. It is no longer based on calories alone, but how the body metabolizes that food. My daily total depends on weight, height and age. I am free to eat anything i want, and NOT eat what i want, this allows me to follow lc & practice portion control. So, I just track points and carbs. I do not need to track calories. FF
