McDonald's Iced Coffee - Sugar Free <3

Just wanted to say, I love McDonald's sugar free vanilla iced coffee... and if you subrtract sugar alcohols (I sometimes do, sometimes don't, depending on the type) then a medium is 90 calories and 3 net carbs.

They use erythitol in their sugar free vanilla syrup (sweet! lol pun intended).

To me, it is tastier than Starbucks.

What a treat.

That is all.

Yes, McDonald's iced coffee is good..Sometimes, I just have them put in Splenda instead of the SF syrup..And, they will add whipped cream for 25 Cents.

Start Date: May 2003
Their website lists the ingredients as:

Iced Coffee with Sugar Free Vanilla Syrup (Small)

Premium Roast Coffee

Light Cream
Allergens: MILK

Milk, cream, sodium phosphate, datem, sodium stearoyl lactylate, sodium citrate, carrageenan.

CONTAINS: MILK.

Sugar Free Vanilla Syrup

Water, erythritol, natural (plant source) and artificial flavors, cellulose gum, sucralose, salt, malic acid, potassium sorbate (preservative), acesulfame potassium, caramel color (with sulfites).

Also shows 16 oz = 60 calories, 1 g protein, 5 g fat, 8 g carbs.

PART of those carbs is from the light cream, and PART from the sweeteners. They probably use a liquid sucralose sweetener so I'd not worry about that, but do note that it does HAVE sucralose as well as Ace-K.

That is for the small. The medium is 90 cals, they do not subtract the erythitol from the carb count, so they list it as 11. I got the 3 net carbs figure by using the "net carb" calculations...

Total calories - ((fat grams X 9)+(protein grams X 4)) all divided by 4 = Net Carbs

90 - (70)+(8) = 12
12/4 = 3

Oh yes I love their iced coffee and prior to low carb was addicted their Frappes. I make my own now and use as a meal replacement. See below for the recipie if you want to try.

For those that want to make their own, it will be WAY more than 90 calories tho, here's what I do (I use this as a meal replacement for brekkie now):
1-Cafe Caramel latte Atkins shake
1-Splash of Torani sugar free Caramel or Hazelnot sugar fre syrup
2-Rounded teaspoons of Smucker's natural peanut butter (FYI: Ingredients should only say peanuts and salt)
1-oz of HWC
3-oz of Philadelphia cream cheese (Note: I think any other cream cheese affects the taste quality but to each their own)
1-rounded tablespoon of Folger's instant coffee (I use classic roast) [Note: If ypu prefer fresh brewed coffee then brew the night before and when cold freeze in ice tray and replace the ice cubes with the "coffe cubes"]
3-ice cubes

Directions: Blend until all ingredients mixed through and shake should be creamy and thick (spoonable). This is sooo good trust me!

lol I guess we (LCF) don't go to McDonalds that much ... good job everyone! hehe

I learned about the sugar free iced coffee from my younger brother. Sometimes I wish I didn't know about it.... because sometimes I get it in my head that it sounds soooo good and really I just want to have it as a treat once in a while, not a frequent thing

Did you look at the info for iced latte or iced coffee? the latte uses skim milk the coffee uses cream

Per McDonald's website

small sugar free vanilla iced coffee = 60 total calories, 1g protein, and 50 calories from fat. There are 4 calories in each gram of protein, and 4 calories in each gram of carb, and 9 calories in each gram of fat... but since McD's already told us how many cals are fat cals, we don't have to calc that.

60 - (50 fat cals + 4 protein cals) = 60-54=6 6/4 = 1.5 net carbs'

The formula without any numbers plugged in is

Total Cals - ((fat grams X 9)+(protein grams X4))
Then you divide that by 4, since what is "left over" after subtracting the fat calories and the protein calories represents the carb calories.... and since there are 4 calories per gram of carbohydrate. The final number is how many "caloric" or "net" carbs there are.

Thanks for the info.....I just looked at the previous post wrong. I looked at the 90 - (70) + (8) as 90 - 70 = 20 + 8 = 28 , then 28/4....see where I got confused????

Yes, I put the extra parenthesis here
Total calories - ((fat grams X 9)+(protein grams X 4)) all divided by 4 = Net Carbs

but not here
90 - (70)+(8) = 12

So your saying this is okay for Induction? What about the caffeine? Can you get this in decaf?? The reason I ask is I thought we couldn't have caffeine?

It depends which version of Atkins you are doing. The 1972 version, 1995, etc lol

Most of us never quit coffee for induction, I'd say.

I'm doing Atkins Induction based on the New Diet Revolution book. I actually checked with my Mcdonalds and they don't sell Sugar Free Coffee at all. They don't even carry Splenda lol. So I have found something else I believe is okay.

- Decaf Coffee since Caffeine is not supposed to be consumed according to the book
- 2 shots of Starbucks Sugar Free and 0 Carb Caramel Syrup
- Heavy Whipping Cream

I appear to be losing weight fine on it. Sometimes I turn it into a frappchino

That's good. I would never suggest that the McDonald's sugar iced free coffee should be a daily thing.

Here in Southern California the McDonald's I have gone to all have had the sugar free iced coffee. It's also on their website.
