Yogurt on Atkins?

I was just looking at the Atkins website and they must have changed it because now when you look at an overview of each phase and the new foods you can incorporate into your diet in the next phase, yogurt is now an option for phase two, but then when you go into the list of food you can eat for that phase, it's not on there. I'm confused...It says nuts, berries, & yogurt.

If you click the "to read more button" - towards the bottom of the 2nd page they list yogurt on the list of OWL foods - here is the link http://www.atkins.com/Program/Phase-...his-Phase.aspx
It's about half-way down the page.

For myself personally - I have been eating full fat fage yogurt for most of my 9.5 months on low carb and have had no trouble with it. I usually mix it with raspberries & some splenda or I will mix it with some sugar-free cheesecake flavored jello pudding mix.

Try it and see how it works for you

yogurt has a lot of sugar in it, despite what people like to think. I would not use it for awhile, if at all, myself.

I love yoghurt. I buy plain full fat greek yoghurt, but I also count all the carbs listed in the nutritional panel. Some say yoghurt has less carbs than the panel states, but I believe this is a myth. I believe it contains very much approximately what it says it contains. I eat it often, I don't believe it holds me back, and I love it, but ... I confess ... it tends to give me cravings.

Interesting...I also experience cravings after eating yogurt.

Kroger carries a brand called "carbmaster." It's pretty good and has a few different flavors. The vanilla has only 4 carbs per cup, which isn't too bad if you really get the craving... I could see where regular yogurt that may easily contain 20+ grams of sugar/carbs a cup may be detrimental to atkins... but I think there are acceptable variations!

I make my own greek yogurt using whole milk - no sweeteners. I have 1/2 cup every other day and it has not affected my weight at all. Have to watch portion control - I feel like I could eat the whole quart in one sitting! Yum!

I did not start eating it until I reached maintenance, though.

This. I don't even like yogurt because it is too tangy. However, I like the carbmaster brand.

I think yogurt is like anything else: if you really like it, you can find a place for it in your diet without it holding you back. If you don't really care for it, then leave it be and save a few carbs. That's my advice.

There are conflicting ideas on how much of the sugar is consumed by the bacteria and how much is left for our bodies to digest. I guess it's a YMMV kind of thing.
