Pork Rinds?

I can't seem to find a straight answer on these. Can I eat them, or are they considered "lowcarb junk" like the protein bars? If I'm going to do induction, I want to do it right so it's worth it, but I don't want to miss out on a food if it's fine.

I would think it's fine. Zero carbs, some protein, some fat. Use with dips, by themself and especially ground up and used as breading.

I eat them all the time, they have not stop my weightloss. I eat them by themselves, with some laughing cow cheese (as a dip) and even cook with them as a coating for meat. So I think you can enjoy them, IMHO!!

Embrace the pork rind! I hated them before LC, and still don't like the smell when I open the bag, but they have saved me from carbicide many times.

I ate/eat them too. I think I burned myself out on them because right now they don't sound very good. I've crushed them and used them for breading chicken or porkchops and i've used them as a "chip" for Guacamole. Yum!

I eat them with no consequence. They are delicious, satisfying, and CRUNCHY.

Do you have an Aldi nearby? They have awesome pork rinds for .89 a bag at mine. =) The spicy version is AMAZING!

I love them! The only drawback for me is the amount of sodium - blows me up like a balloon.

Even the '72 version of Atkins allowed pork rinds! Enjoy. They're good with guacamole, melted Mexican cheese (I take them to the MX restaurant once in a while to dip in cheese and my kids are horrified!), even salsa. I've used them as breading, and I like them plain.

Especially crushing them fine, taking chicken tenders, coat them in mayo, then the crushed pork rinds and baked in the oven

I do the same with my Tilapia filets, but fry in butter.

And I slice zucchinni, coat with mayo, dip in the rinds and bake....

Like these better than any breaded item I use to eat

I love them and they provide that needed "crunch". I use the new WW onion and chives cream cheese as a dip. I also use them to make a Nachos dish in the microwave with cheese, some salsa, black olives and mushrooms.

love them----use them for a coating on chicken, but when i want a little snack i layer some on a plate, and put a pepperoni on each piece--and top with some cheese and stick them in the mike for 20 seconds or so, till the cheese is a little melted---so good

Just check the label Some brands add starches or flavorings or even msg. As long as you're getting just pork rinds, you should be good to go. (Do watch the salt if you're sensitive though, it can add up fast in those crunchy little bites!)

Yay! Thanks for clearing that up, guys. And as the girl who used to dump packets of salt on her fries/popcorn, plus eat tons of frozen foods, I'm not really worried about what's already in a handful of pork rinds...

they are real food. just read labels.

many manufacturers take real food and tweak it until it becomes FRANKENFOOD. The only ingredients you want to see on the package are pork rinds and salt. Limitless applications. As they do have significant sodium, you may have to limit your consumption, and compensate by drinking MORE WATER. HAPPY CRUNCHING!!! Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

I have drizzled butter on them and tossed them in cinnamon and Splenda mix and even Hersheys unsweetened cocoa mixed with Splenda. You need to eat them right away or they get soggy but, for a sweet snack it is really good.

I like them as a coating for meats, and I have seen muffin recipes that use partly "pork rind flour." Atkins said that most of the fat cooks out and you are left with a crunchy little snack made almost entirely of protein. I like to eat mine with tuna fish sandwiches and cheeseburgers of course. It's one of the few truly crunchy foods you can eat on low carb.

ditto. I found when I first started eating them- I only liked the 'fluffy' ones. You will know what I mean when you get your first bag. hehe
One thing I learned one this WOE is I end up eating things that would otherwise sound strange- like pork rind dipped in cream cheese with splenda and cinnamon.

I think of them just like chips on a regular diet. Not great for you, but sometimes you can have them. I stear away from them so far, but I won't say I'll never open a bag!

pork rinds are awesome. i tried the sweet version of butter, sweetner, and cinnamon. very good lol. almost taste like taco bell cinnamon thingys. im sure if i got the more fluffy kind of pork rinds/skins it would taste more like that taco bell stuff...

I like the more rustic version of pork rinds. I like El Sabroso brand pork cracklin's. They aren't quite as puffy and airy as Bakenettes. Great with salsa and sour cream! And yes, crushed pork rinds are a great sub for panko bread crumbs! They save me from carbicide too.

I haven't made nachos with them yet, but I will be now that saw the idea here. Remember, these are a natural food. At least it is a food more so than Pringles! It's a 'use all parts of the animal' food.

Pork rinds are soooo handy. Unfortunately I can't bring them into the house without my husband devouring them in ~ 5 minutes
I keep wanting to use them for breading pork chops (pork on pork, anyone?) but he always eats them before I get a chance

New favorite dip for pork rinds... one ounce cream cheese, two slices of liverwurst, microwaved for 30 seconds then mashed together with a fork. Add a few drops of hot sauce. Dip and enjoy!

my favorite is a pepperjack dip. my family LOVES this dip. not as low as some could be because it does have a soup mix (dry) in it, but still low enough I consider it low carb and on plan. when I take it to potlucks I use frito scoops for non low carbers. its a very THICK dip. but so tasty.

It's just fried pig skin. I like to get the spicy ones and dip them in sour cream. It's a treat though. Haven't had that in a long time. It's way better than other crap we could eat, IMHO
