My Journey (With pics) - finally.

I've shared my story a couple times on here, only in text format though. I won't give you the entire five page detailed story, however, I'll give you the short version with a picture to go along with it this time.

The highest weight that I got up to was 321 pounds. Granted I am 6'3 and a 'large' frame of body, it was still unbearable. So I tried, like most, all the other diets known to mankind. Failures. Low cal, subway, noodles, blah blah blah blah.

I was always an active kid, played sports throughout high school. After that, went to school and I blew up like a whale. Plus with the news of a diagnosis for a retinal degenerative eye disease and the idea of slowly going blind and not being able to see my family and friends anymore... I ate everything and anything that I could get my hands on.

I would like to say that dealing with the eye disease is still a daily thing, but now, I've learned that having something to deal with that isn't so great in life shouldn't be a trigger to go and eat. It was one of the hardest habits I've had to break in my life. Sure on my birthday or on occasion I go and blow it out. BUT I've learned in my head that just because it's a special time in life or when I'm depressed about something, it ins't the time to break down and just start shoving food in my mouth. Even though that's the initial reaction I usually had.

Anyway, I'll give you some stats and I'll shut up now. I just want to tell you guys that I know I haven't reached my goal weight yet, but I will. You will do it too. Keep your focus and when the hard times come, keep chasing that dream you have.

Starting weight was 321 pounds.
Blood Pressure - 170/105 low times, it got as high as 190/110 once.
Heart Rate would spike just walking around the house. Over the 100 mark resting.

This morning I weighed 265.0 Total weight loss of 56 pounds so far.
Blood Pressure 130/70's, it don't spike anymore.
Resting Heart Rate is in the 60's and my running rates will end up in the 140's after an extended run. (5k distances)

Anyway - Atkins works. It's not the easiest diet to follow. I've stuggled several times, many of you guys know that. Read another post I had where I shred my major spiral during this last Thanksgiving / Christmas.

Anyway - here's a pic for you guys. They aren't great pics but it's all I've got. Nothing fancy, I wanted it that way.. no funny mirrors or funny shots.. just me. No Photoshop (besides the text). Just me.

Also, forgot to put my clothes sizes.

Started out pushing out of a 3XLT size shirt.
Pants size got up to a 46.

Today I wear an XLT (some 2xl depends on brand)
38 pants.

Fantastic! The most obvious change to me is you look so much younger. This always amazes me when people lose weight they seem to drop a few birthdays as well, lol! Great work!

We have somewhat similar stories. My weight went up drastically after being diagnosed with cancer. I have thyroid cancer which can easily be used as an excuse for weight gain, but really, I just stuffed myself with unhealthy food. I had always been able to eat pretty liberally with no gain, but after having my thyroid removed that all changed. I finally woke up and decided to make a change in my woe and life couldn't be better!

It's amazing what you can achieve when you just embrace life rather than let the tough times take control. Not everyone figures that out, but it sure looks like you did! Keep it up!

You got it

These were taken at a diaper party yesterday. Baby Coots is due November 15th. It has given me some of my motivation to hit it hard lately.

I may just be a hormonal woman () but these stories always hit me pretty hard and get me all teary!

You've done so much towards making your future healthier, longer and of higher quality -- and now, you have a great reason (appearing in November!) to continue this way of life forever.

Well done, friend. You are an inspiration to all of us on this journey.
