All right, that's it!! I don't care if it is $50, I'm ordering some!! Where are you all finding the peanut butter cup because Netrition isn't carrying it?

Thanks Kathy!

I did go ahead and order a small size (1 lb) of the Nature's Best Isopure in Creamy Vanilla from Amazon because curiosity was killing me. It arrived this morning so I'm going to give it a test run after I work out. (Crosses fingers that it isn't salty.)

Now, I am going to order the Cinnabon Trutein. It sounds delicious, and I love the idea of mixing it to the consistency of frosting.

I am back to co-sign jmc305's statement that Nature's Best Isopure is salty. I got it in vanilla and wish I had gotten plain.

The smoothie I made was with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and one scoop of the powder. I cannot say whether the milk was a contributing factor because I don't care for almond milk straight, but it has served is purpose as a low cal and carb smoothie ingredient. I can say that the Dymatize chocolate flavor was quite tasty when mixed with the milk.

After tasting it I added a tbsp of flaxseed and that helped tremendously. It's not so horrible that I'm throwing it out, but I sincerely doubt that I will purchase it again.

Thanks SouthernBelle. Glad this thread was on the main page today when I just joined. I was considering Isopure because it's "lactose free" and I'm considering avoiding it. But I can't deal with "Salty". I don't even like bacon and salt free bacon is gross. So I'm sure if others are tasting "salt" then I will too.

My husband and I use the Isopure zero carb vanilla powder, and we mix it with Almond coconut Almond Breeze. He uses two scoops in 8oz, for 6 g carbs- which is pretty great. I use one scoop in 4 oz of the Almond Breeze for 3 g carbs. I can stomach it with the Almond Breeze but I have never tasted a protein powder that I could choke down if mixed with just water.

Excellent brand but it is too expensive for me It is like R900(2.2 kg) and I found a brand that costs R600 (Evox) with only 2g of carbs.

I just ordered. I did a custom mix :

NATURAL Premium Chocolate Banana (Heavy)
Whey Protein Isolate Cold-Filtration [Milk] (20%)
Whole Egg Protein (60%)
Stevia (All-Natural Sweetener)
MCT – Medium Chain Triglycerides (10%)
Psyllium Seed Husk Fiber (10%)
Vitamin & Mineral Mix
Plastic Jug w/ Free Scoop

I'll post a review once it arrives. Btw I got a mix of egg and whey because whey spikes my insulin...

What a great idea!!!

The two powder I have been using most recently are Protizyme and the new Met-RX Protein and oats.

I use the Met-RX Vanilla Cinnamon on days that I run because it is a little carbier than the norm with 8.5 carbs and 3.5 grams of fiber. I mix one scoop (half serving size) in a warm bowl of Scottish Oatmeal made with unsweetened almond milk with a shake of sea salt and some coconut butter. It is so filling! The Scottish oatmeal is 19net carbs per serving, so not for induction levels.

The Protizyme is 2 carbs and the Peanut Butter Cookie and Banana Cream are my favorite.

Based on the reviews here I cannot wait to try the Trutein.

My box, due to arrive today with the vanilla and choc peanut butter was damaged in transit. Now it has to go all the way to Netrition and be re-shipped!!! Bummer!!

YW! Glad I could help. If you are sensitive to the taste of salt (and I'm not), I don't think this will work for you without a lot of doctoring on it.

I've managed to find some balance with it by adding a tbsp of wheat germ to my smoothies. (I've tried chia seeds and flax as well, but the wheat germ tastes the best with it.) It's pleasant but the vanilla flavor is mild.

I mixed it with unsweetened vanilla Silk almond milk first. I have now moved on to unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze now and that brand tastes better to me and has a thinner consistency. I always go for a full cup - 8 oz and one scoop.

Since I've never been a fan of sweets and am very sensitive to the taste of sugar, I many not be the best candidate to make a recommendation lol, but the Dymatize was definitely fine with water. It mixes easily, was not gritty, and tasted good. Apparently from everything I've read in this thread, the Trutein tastes just as good.

This brings me to my next point which I will call "the building of a sweet tooth". Since I've been making these smoothies for roughly a month now, I've noticed that I now want to add something to make them sweeter. That will not do so I ordered the Isopure zero carb unflavored and am very pleased with it. I can mix it with anything and it doesn't affect the flavor. (I was terrified it would be salty, but it isn't.)

So after I finish off these flavored ones, I'm sticking with the unflavored before I actually develop a sweet tooth lol.

I use the same, but the chocolate one...1.5 Net Carbs per scoop
It is really good, a little salty, and very expensive

I would be happy to send you a sample. I got my REALLY big jug today!

I have chocolate unsweetened Almond Breeze freezing in ice cube trays to make my first choc peanut butter shake this afternoon. I'm going to toss some PB2 in it also.

Ok, here's my shake:

1 scoop Trutein Choc/PB
2T SF instant pudding, choc fudge
2T PB2
1 1/2 cups unsweetened Choc Almond Breeze
1T sweetener
frozen choc Almond Breeze ice cubes

Put everything in the blender except the frozen cubes and blend 30-45 seconds. Add cubes and blend till thick. I can't even tell you how tasty and filling that just was on a hot day! Here are the stats:

Calories: 300
Fat: 9 grams
Carbs: 25
Fber: 4
Protein: 32

17 of the carbs are from the PB2 and the SF pudding mix but that pudding mix makes it so thick and creamy, like a shake. I always use it no matter what flavor or brand I'm using. Not a LC shake the way I make it but much better than the alternative.

Sorry for the bump, was searching threads for protein powders!

The Trutein stuff sounds so yummy!! When do you girls (and guys!) consume it? Does it matter? I'm not a big breakfast person, so I'd probably just down a shake in the mornings, and then since I workout at night and come home late (like 930), the last thing I want to do is choke down actual food! Would it be bad to have 2 shakes a day?

The best ones I have tried are from BioX. I have tried and loved the cookies and cream and chocolate. My newest love that both my wife love is Orange Creamsicle. The best way is with crushed ice, bit of HWC and water. YUM! And its perfect on a hot day :>

I like Designer Whey. It doesn't come in as many flavors as have been listed here for other brands, but it's good, and I "doctor" it with DaVinci syrups. If you can't find a flavor you like that way, I'd say you're lost! LOL I get mine online, too. It's fine mixed with water, but sometimes I "splurge" and use coconut or almond milk or a combination thereof.

Interestingly enough, although our prescribed diet (per our endocrinologist) lists the EAS shakes, when I objected to the soy base and told him I was using DW, he said that's what he uses too!
Go figure.

I got my samples of Trutein - got chocolate truffle, orange creamcicle & cinnabun. Tried the orange one last night.... Gosh maybe it's because I haven't had anything 'artificial' in so long...but blech! I'm going to try the chocolate one after the gym tonight and then the Cinnabun tomorrow.

I did buy a powder from Vitamin Shoppe. It's all natural, no funky additives or ingredients and only a couple of carbs per 2 scoop serving - tastes amazing too!

I've been going crazy with protein powder lately trying to find new brands. I guess I'm being super picky but apparently if you get hormone/artificial flavor free..you're still getting soy. I got spoiled with a dairy farm a few years ago that used to just give me the whey that was leftover from whatever they did so there was nothing else in it to make it taste good.

Does anything exist without any kind of soy, artificial flavoring, hormones...

Even Garden Of Life Raw has soy in it.. it's just fermented. I might be able to tolerate the taste if it at least didn't have soy.

Oh no!! Orange was not one I was considering. Did you go to the Trutein website for the samples?

Trutein does not contain soy. But it does contain artificial sweetener.
