CO and AVC is Going Down!
I'm not a fan of coconut, and AVC is so strong! But I'm determined to ingest both on a daily basis. So I've found a solution for each one. I made chocolate pb cups w/CO. They are totally delish! I can live with the 2 carbs (each) to get the CO, plus it gives me a treat (even my teen daughter liked them). Now for the AVC -the only way I can take it is to add it to a cup of Celestial Seasonings Cinnamon Apple Spice Tea. I brew the tea first, then add a tablespoon of AVC. It actually enhances the flavor of the tea.

Do you have any other methods of getting CO and AVC into your system w/o gagging?

I've always hated coconut, the smell, taste and texture. :/ However, I have 2 jars of oil, one is tasteless and no smell, easy to use for cooking and baking. The other is Nutiva, which I must admit, smells great, and I put it in my tea (never ever thought I'd like it) but it's good.

My only advice is to use CO to replace oil and butters in recipes to add it to your diet and hide the taste, like you did with the peanut butter cups...share your recipe!

I'm not sure what AVC is, so I'm no help there! Still getting used to all the unique abbreviations on these forums. :)

Cheers,, and good luck on your weight loss journey!

AVC-apple cider vinegar

That's great way to get the AVC in. I never thought of that :)

I make coconut oil peanut butter cups and the girls at work like them better than the regular or sugar free ones you can buy at store...however I don't like to share as the coconut oil is expensive lol

Hey Terry. Recipe please. I don't think I've seen that one.

This is the recipe I used for the pb cups:

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups
1 stick of butter (or 1/2 cup coconut oil, expeller pressed)
1-1/2 squares Baker's Unsweetened Baking Chocolate Squares
1/3 cup Splenda
1 tbsp. heavy whipping cream
4 tbsp. Jif Natural Peanut Butter
Put 15 mini muffin papers into a mini muffin pan (do this first). Spray with Pam. Place the chocolate in a glass measuring cup and put it in the microwave for one minute. Take it out and stir it with a spoon. Quickly dump the rest of the ingredients in the measuring cup. Place the measuring cup back into the microwave for one minute. Take it out and stir it well. If the ingredients need to melt more, place it back in the microwave for 30 seconds. Take it out and stir it until it's well blended. Pour the mixture into each muffin tin (almost all the way up). Place the muffin pan into the refrigerator. Once the chocolate peanut butter cups are set, you can take them out and eat them. Store them in a plastic zip baggy in the refrigerator.
2.3 carbs each

I did a batch w/CO and a batch with butter. I actually like the CO batch better. I think I'll cut some of the butter next time. I only used one square of chocolate, so that cuts the carbs a bit.

Im so going to try this thank you for sharing.

The other day I was experimenting.... I melted some organic coconut oil and added a couple of splenda packets.

I poured in a small rectangle glass dish, covered with plastic wrap and let it set a little in the fridge, then I rough chopped some of those cocoa powder covered almonds and sprinkled on top I smooth the top over with a spatula so that chopped almonds would go just below the surface. you can also make it so that u place only one almond per little bite size piece. I put back in fridge and once it harden I flip container over and it came out as one whole piece.

I cut it into bite size pieces and keep in fridge in a tight sealed container, its sooo good!!
I have a couple as a mid day snack:)

Are these peanut butter cups something that you might want to eat a whole bunch of at once?

I've been scared to make these, fearing I would eat all of them at once. I've been known to be bingy around chocolate.

@HHJJ I guess it depends on the person. They taste a lot like Reese's PB cups, but with that touch of CO taste. I'm eating 3 a day on purpose, so I guess that keeps me honest.

Recipe I use is
1 stick butter
8 ounces coconut oil (i used refined not virgin for the peanut butter cups so they don't taste like coconut)
4 tablespoon cocoa powder
3 tablespoons erythritol powdered or sweeten to taste with what ever sweetener you use.
melt butter and coconut oil in microwave just til luke warm or it will separate when setting. Add in cocoa and sweetener. pour into mini muffin pan and add a small dollop of peanut butter...usually 1/8 to 1/4 tsp is enough.
freeze and pop out of pan. keep refrigerated due to low melting point of the oil or you will have a mess lol.

We make something very similar:
8oz coconut oil
1stick butter
2T cocoa
8oz peanut / almond butter (whichever we have on hand)

Melt the butter and peanut butter and coconut oil, add cocoa, stir and then pour into mini cupcake tins (lined). We don't add any sweetener.

does ACV actually help? I have read about benifits but I havent heard a verdict.

Furi 07-12-2012 02:20 PM

I add ACV to my water sometimes. I'm not sold on all the random stuff people say it does, but it's less carby than lemon juice and gives just as much of a bite.

I think ACV does help with weight loss. I tend to do better when I take it.
