The longer I'm on plan, the worse cheats get...
I've eaten really healthy controlled carb, minimal processed foods for over 2 years now.
I went off plan this weekend for our vow renewal/anniversary and WOW!. I notice each time my body punishes me more and more. By Sunday night, I not only felt bloated, but swollen, achy, acidy and miserable. UGH, Why did I do that?!?! Addictions are hard to break! ![]() |

I've noticed this too In the past I could have a cheat weekend and have no adverse reaction from it at all. Two of the last three times that I have had cheat weekends I have had horrible stomach cramps and I am embarrassed to say extreme diarrhea. I was OK the last time, but I may have preemped the diarrhea attack by taking Pepto as soon as I felt the slightest bit of discomfort in my tummy. It sucks because I look forward to being able to having a cheat weekend once a month or so. Instead of motivating me to stay on plan, it has actually made me consider switching to a different diet altogether.
I am going on vacation later this week and I don't want to have to watch my carbs (I have been looking so forward to getting fried oysters), but I don't want to spend my vacation in the bathroom either or worst yet to spend time in the bathroom when on the plane.

I'm a big believer that Low carb is the way to go, at least a diet free of processed carbs.
But I believe you can avoid the bad feeling by slowly easing into the carbs over a few days. Maybe first add fruit back in, then whole grains, etc. I've been doing differently low carb plans for 2-3 years. And only cheat a couple times a year so it's a huge shock on my body when I do! |

If I eat real pasta, I get really dizzy, then tired and have to take a nap. That's why I haven't eaten real pasta in 4 years!

I have noticed the same thing... the longer I am on plan the harder it is for my body to handle a cheat. The last time I had just a small off-plan treat my stomach hurt for days and even the lymph nodes in the back of my neck hurt. That is enough to put me off cheating.

Cheats ruin me for days as well -extreme discomfort and bathroom issues. It really is motivation to stay on program!! That and the fact that I start saying the same old lies to myself..."I just need this one (more) thing and then I can get back on track." What a pile of malarky!! I think it's best to choose only a couple of times a year that warrant the bad stuff, or just never have it.
