Back to the basics

I'm up a few pounds. It doesn't make me happy.
I've stopped tracking my carbs and I have a feeling I am in carb creep mode.
A lick of my kids ice cream so that it doesn't drip, half a soda because I share it with someone, cranberries on my salad...

So, I'm going back to the basics for the next 30 days...

Anyone with me?

I'll join you!

I'm hovering on the border of Onederland, and I want to get there. Eating potatoes and/or rice pudding a couple time a week is not cutting it .

What does "back to basics" look like for you?

I think my recent slipping up might be helped by more variety, so I think I'll move up a DANDR rung, to OWL with more veggies.

Also, I've been super lazy lately and a messy house=worse eating .

I'm going to try to do 25 g of carbs or less per day.
Which means no Mocha iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts...and likely no atkins bars...or very few Atkins bars.

I'm looking at meat, eggs, veggies and salad.

Me! Me! (hand waving madly) I have been messing around for weeks now with a 3 lb loss. Back to basics it is. I started induction (again) on Monday and I am going to follow Atkins to the tee. Induction for 2 weeks then move up the ladder 1 week at a time, just the way the book is written.

I am down about 2 lbs so far this week. I keep hoping for the whoosh everyone talks about, mine is more like a dribble now and again.

My weight was up yesterday then down today.
It feels good to be eating clean again though.

I'll join you. I started strictly counting my calories and carbs again today, as I fear I have "carb/calorie creep." I want to be in Onederland by the time I finish my 2 weeks of dogsitting.

Glad to have you Vilya!
I log on paper for my weightloss group and on ****** as a perm record. I'm thinking of getting a smart phone solely to get an app to help me track easier.

I am so disgusted this morning!! I have kept my carbs at 20 or below all week. Yesterday I was at 13 because I ate away and was worried about hidden carbs. Today I am up 1.5 lbs!!!! Agh!! I constantly feel like I am tweaking stuff and I really hate that. I want to be able to just eat and I thought that's how LC was supposed to be. I havent really lost more that a couple of pounds since I started because I keep going up and down and not really going anywhere. It's very discouraging and making me rethink the whole low carb thing. I guess I'm going to have to start watching calories as well as carbs and lower the number of calories I am having. I've been staying under 2000 everyday, usually around 1800. So I am going to go to 1200-1500 and see if that helps. I was hoping to get away from counting calories by doing LC. Now it looks like I will be tracking everything again just like I was before. How is everyone else doing??

Sounds like a great plan. I try to shoot for 700-800 cal/day and < 15 grms of carbs. 1800 calories sounds OK for maintenance but a little high for weight loss. With LC, your appetite should be sufficiently depressed enough to decrease your overall hunger. Nevertheless, calories DO count.

Good Luck,

Unfortunately, you do have to watch calories to some extent. I am right around 200 lbs., and my calorie needs have now dropped from about 1,800 to 1,500 for weight loss. I know some people can lose without watching their calories, but sadly I'm not one of them.

I'm down a whopping .2 lbs. this week. Wow, let me run right out and buy new clothes.

Good Luck,
-I'm sorry, are you saying you eat 700-800 calories a day? I hope I read that wrong...

Glad to have you, Bobbin!

I was slightly up again this morning. But I reread my journal and reminding myself that there is one week a month I am always up...and this is it. So I am going to keep doing what I am doing and hope I see the results this coming week.
I know this works...and as hard as it is right now, I need to stick with it.

I had a major meltdown, "I don't care anymore!" type meltdown last Sunday. I have adjusted my carb percentages and I am now eating a few more carbs and a few less protein and not worrying too much about the fat. I'm also not weighing myself but once a week. I drink a huge glass of water the minute I get up so I won't step on the scale! I feel like I have lost this week but I won't weigh until next Wednesday. My pants feel better.

I've been steadily gaining all week.
I really want to keep doing this and not get on the scale until my official weigh in Thursday night...Just have faith this will work.

I have been MIA from LCF lately, but I have returned!

I've been sick the last few days, but I'm feeling better and have a fridge full of LC foods, so I'm definitely back on the "back to basics" plan.

I really want to get to Onederland this week or next - I've been hovering around it for almost a month now.

It sounds like we're all struggling, but let's persevere!! We can do it!

Who else is rededicated for this week?

Ok, another weekend of parties, drinking and eating has me back to square -2 again! I guess it's ok as long as I get back to it the next day and don't let it ruin me. I have committed to no sugar for the month of July. I was letting it creep back in and I think that's what gets me off track.

I'm still committed, despite my recent gains. I've been eating well for almost two weeks and I keep gaining.

What a bummer! It's no fun when you're doing everything right but your body doesn't want to cooperate.

Good for you for sticking to your commitment. It will pay off sooner or later.

I'm off to fix dinner - pork chop, cauliflower, and a salad. It doesn't get any more "back to basics" than that .

I've done really well the last couple of days. Breakfast has really been boring me lately and I made a MIM this morning for the first time. It was pretty good and kept me satisfied until lunch. I was worried that I would get hungry early. I used to love breakfast sandwiches and if I make the MIM in the right container I could throw a couple of pieces of bacon and some cheese on there and have a nice breakfast. I think I will try that tomorrow.

Hey there, I know what you mean about no scale payoff for your efforts. I've been back on program for 2 weeks now, but I know mine is partially hormonal...Lately TOM comes and goes as it pleases, and is making me wait right now. Also, I've found the more I "cheat", the longer it takes for me to start losing again. I had a doozie of a vacation at the beginning of May, and slipped up before and after, often. I think my body is making me "prove" I want to start dropping again, by being unwaiveringly faithful to my WOE. Don't give up, you can do it and so can I !!

I'm still on plan - how's everybody doing?

I might be down a pound or a bit less this week (Thursday is my official weight day), but I'm not going to get to Onederland .

Anybody got any special plans for today? (4th of July)?

I weighed in the morning and I am up a pound, no big surprise. I'm at work until 3:00 and then we are going to a concert/fireworks show at the lake. I already know that I'm going to drink a beer or two tonight and a beer or two on Saturday but I'm going to try to maintain the rest of the week.

I have no special plans today - we're just relaxing and enjoying the day off. I am not getting on the scale right now, every time I do it always says the same thing! I am expecting a big drop in the next couple of weeks when my body decides to cooperate, though. It's worth while to eat this way whether I'm losing or not, for a multitude of reasons. I know the scale will catch up soon because I can feel myself getting smaller.

I was down 2.2 this morning which is still higher than I would like to be but better than I was.
I had a major headache today and I think it was Atkins flu like...so maybe my body is adjusting again?

I ate a ton of calories today but stayed pretty low carb...no real indulgences except more mayo than I should.
the picnic had strawberries stuffed with cream cheese and graham crumbs but I resisted!
