Atkins For Life book

does anyone have this book? it was published in 2003 I believe, and must have been written shortly before Dr Atkins died. it came in a set with a CD-ROM thingy and a bunch of recipe cards. I still have all the recipe cards. it also includes handy "pocket sized" lists of things like what to eat at restaurants. pretty cool!

anyway, the book is really helpful if you do want to be on Atkins for life. it has a few before-and-after stories, complete with pics. it goes through Ongoing Weight Loss in tons of detail. it also goes into more detail about stuff like appropriate levels of exercise, different types of fat (and how to tweak your menu to get optimum levels of omega 3s etc) and glycemic index/glycemic load.

I have no idea if it's still in print, but thought I would put it out there to see if anyone else is being helped by this book!

I still have it somewhere. I never did really read it though. Seemed like it was mostly recipes.

I checked it out of the library several months ago and liked it. I've been meaning to buy a copy, but I just haven't yet.

Love it, it is sitting on my kitchen island as we speak. I think he wrote it a few years before he died?

Check your library's used book store. Mine amost always has some of the different Atkins books and Very reasonable, whether it's paperback or hardbound (under $2).

Can you order from Amazon.com? They have it both used and new. I ordered one of Atkins earliest books from one of their resellers and had no problems. If you have used bookstores in your area you might also be able to find it. My library does not have a used book section. Good luck!

I love Amazon for everything but electronic books. I have never had a problem ordering form their venders.

I have just the book. I refer to it often and love it.

What I loved the most about it was that he took each phase of his four steps from Induction, through Ongoing Weight Loss, Pre-Maintenance, and into Maintenance, and listed daily menus for each of those weight loss stages for 40 Days! It really shows how his plan starts off a little sparse a then progress nicely to finally includes so many foods back again, including the occasional potato and slice of whole wheat bread, if you want to include those foods again, if able.

Also fun to see how varied and delicious his menu suggestions were, able to include most foods back again in maintenance without bringing back all the processed manufactured boxed foods that fill the middle aisles of our grocery stores these days!

I do certainly recommend this book to any who have an interest in the Atkins Plan.
