Some Insight

Tonight I've been sorting my clothes into "Fit" "Too Big" "Too Small" and "Winter/Fall." It's actually given me a better idea of where I was when I started my diet in March. I don't think I really faced just HOW much weight I had put on. Since my size 22s were tight, I was really up near a size 24, and these were "Wide" sizes. So, I now have a better understanding of why certain clothes in size 18 fit and others do not. The ones that fit are "wide" sizes whereas the others are "regular." Of course it's frustrating to know how big I was/am, however, that makes me feel a little less worried about whether or not I am losing weight. I absolutely have lost weight and I think I am losing, as I was finally able to button the regular size 18 tonight and wasn't able to last week. The 18 wides fit well. So, I just wanted to put that out there in case others are struggling with similar points of confusion.

Lucy that is awesome, what a great feeling! I think for me the dropping in pants size is a really big deal, as much as the scale moving down. I want to feel normal, and wearing 42" jeans does not feel normal to me. I can't wait to have a pile of "large", "oversize", "to big" cloths that I can keep next to my bed as a reminder of the accomplishments I have achieved.

Congratulations! That does help some in terms of sorting out why some things in a size whatever fit, and others in the "same" size don't. But clothing sizing seems really inconsistent to me.

For example, I have a size 18 dress that is too small, that I want to be able to wear by the end of the summer. But yesterday I wore a size 12-14 blouse and a size 12 raincoat! I know that some of that is vanity sizing; there's no way that I fit into most size 12 clothing right now. Since I set goals in terms of clothing rather than weight, I end up using particular clothing items as "scales" and set goals in pretty broad terms (like "I want to comfortably fit into most of my size 'large' clothing, and not be limited to my 'extra large' wardrobe by the end of August).

"Fit," "Too Big," "Too small," and "wrong season" seem very sensible categories to me. Yesterday I put a bunch of plus sized clothing away, since it had gotten too baggy to wear, and that felt great.

That is such a great feeling! I won't have to worry about keeping and boxing away my bigger clothes though, because they are pretty much worn out. I can't wait to throw them away. I might even have a burning party..lol

At my heaviest I thought I would always be heavy. Well, when my 18's got too tight, I realized that I was only getting bigger and needed to change something. So, LOW CARB has helped so much.... I've gone from a tight 18 to now a loose 14. I'm looking forward to a loose 12!

Loved reading your success with your clothes. Be proud!
