Help! Need to lose weight fast!

Hi everyone!
I need some advice...what do you think is the quickest way to drop pounds? meat and egg fast or strict induction? I need to drop some pounds quickly for a big event coming up in a month. I have decided to drop my nightly glass or two of wine (tear) to get maximum results and now need to go full force on the plan that will get me to my goal the quickest. Do you think I could drop 10 or 15 in a month? Any advice from people who dropped quickly for a big event would be greatly appreciated!!!

Can you drop a quick 10 to 15 pounds in a month?

I think the answer to this is *maybe*....

How overweight are you to start with? Sometimes when we're heavier we can attain a larger weight loss in a shorter period of time, at least for a short period of time.

How many calories are you going to be eating? Regardless of what you chose to eat, it takes fewer calories than your maintenance number to lose weight. One of the lovely things about very low carb is that if you are one who gets appetite suppression from eating that way, it really helps you in not overeating.

Have you been doing low carb up until now? If not, and if you're coming from a somewhat more standard diet that includes higher carbs, you should be able to expect a loss of several/many pounds of water weight within a week or two. (But if you're already low carb, that water weight loss will have already occurred.)

I knew a woman who wasn't terribly overweight who lost 10 and 11 pounds a month on JUDDD. She alternated her calories between 500 on Down Days and 1500 on Up Days. The fat melted off of her.

Can't tell you about the Stillmans, never did that one, but I know folks will give you their reports from that.

HCG folks lose some big pounds in a very short time on that protocal. We have a lot of them who have transitioned into their maintenance and are over on the JUDDD Forum.

Good luck with this. It sounds like you have a very exciting event coming up. Won't it be fun to attend wearing a smaller size?!!! Yay! You can do it!

Its possible but with your stats its going to be a lot of hard work ( as if it isnt already!) since you are already pretty thin! I've never done the meat/egg fast but I hear good things about both plans! Good luck!

At your weight?? I'm thinking very little food. That's a lot of weight to drop...not sure it would be healthy for you.

Hi guys! Thanks for all the replies thus far! I have been eating somewhat low carb for the past month already but definitely not being very strict and cheating on the weekends big time! Plus the wine I drink I think has been stalling my losses. I am going to look into the HCG, stillman and JUDD, I have never done those before. I need something easy to follow as I hate to cook!

I know it's not healthy to stay on that long term, just need to get into best shape possible in the next month...I am just going to try my best to stick to a plan and whatever I lose, I lose. 10 pounds would be great though

you might drop 10 lb including water weight if you stick to very strict low carbing and low calories as well.

but be aware that the DAY you start eating carbs again, you will gain the water weight back as fast as you lost it. it is the "Atkin's Loan" that goes along with ketosis.

so if your event calls for eating "normal" food, you will gain back a lot in a few days. just warning you to be careful!

NOTE: I see now you are already low carbing, so probably you will not lose that much in a month. but you can try! remember spanx in any case... LOL

Looking at your stats, I'd say 10-15 lbs in a month isn't likely. When you see people losing large amounts, you'll most likely find that they have a lot to lose and are quite aways from goal.

LOL Aomiel!!! Trust me I plan to wear two pairs of spanx no matter what I lose! hahahaha
Question re: stillmans, is it the "quick weight loss" plan you guys are referring to?
I am hoping that by cutting out my wine and keeping carbs and calories low I will have some success.
To answer another question, I am 149 pounds and 5'5". I'm small boned though so I am about a size 8, size 6 with vanity sizing The weight I looked best at was 125 and a size 2. ( I have narrow hips) I would kill to get back to that size! (pre-baby)

Yes, Stillman's Quick Weight Loss (QWL)! I did it last summer and lost about 15 pounds in a month and a half or so.

I ate a LOT of boneless skinless chicken breasts!!!!

In addition to very clean, low-carb eating, I'd suggest drinking plenty of water and daily exercising...maybe even 2-a-days (a morning walk and an evening activity, too, for example...). I would also avoid salt and fake foods as much as possible. Good luck!

Definitely STILLMAN.......Dr.Stillman's ~Quick Weight Loss Diet

If you can tolerate its rigidity, you'll obtain faster weight loss than with Atkins or JUDDD.

Thanks guys! I was looking into this and it looks like you basically have all lean protein, FF cottage cheese but no vegetables or salad of any kind? Yikes that sound tough but if it will get results I'm game! I was also looking into Dukan (first phase) and it looks pretty similar except you get FF yogurt instead of FF cottage cheese on Stillmans.
Being an atkins devotee the idea of eating FF yogurt or cottage cheese is scary But it says the carbs in the dairy do not raise your blood sugar the same way other carbs do...have to read more on that.
Macc and Abby- thanks for the link!! I am definitley going to try Stillman's QWL plan. Did you guys eat the cottage cheese on stillmans?
Hot Tamale I am planning on a morning walk daily and hot yoga 3-4 days a week as well.

Low carb, low fat, gym.

At your height/weight, I don't think you will be able to lose 10-15 lbs of actual fat, but you should be able to drop some water weight and maybe about 5 lbs of fat.


But also get to the gym. Morning walks and yoga aren't going to cut it. Lift heavy weights, do circuit training, do HIIT. If you're new to that kind of working out, your body might actually respond pretty quickly and you can see changes to your shape in a month.

Good question. I lost 60 lbs with Stillman in 2009 over 6 months before my 2012 re-initiation. In both cases, I did NOT eat any cheese. It tends to stall me, but YMMV.

thanks Ashley! I am worried I won't be able to do that kind of strenuous working out on stillmans (that allows no vegetables!) but it's worth a try...
Abby I am going to post over in Stillmans threads to see what people did about the cheese...don't want something like gross fat free cottage cheese of all things to stall me!

I did!

I ate the Friendship Creamed 1%. Only 1 gram of fat per 1/2 cup and it actually tastes quite good. I think the creamy texture helps you forget it's lower in fat!

I would eat it with cinnamon and stevia for breakfast. It never stalled me.

I don't see why not... even lower fat and higher protein. I feel confident that if Stillman were alive today, he'd allow at least 1 plain FF Greek yogurt, per day.

If you want to look great in a special dress, then focus on exercise and posture. Weight loss affects the way you look clothed less than your posture and your muscle tone! If I were in your position, I'd do the following:
-strict induction by the book: ie, 3 servings of protein (4 to 6 oz each); 2-3 cups salad greens; no dairy (it's fine on induction, but you'll lose faster without it). No alcohol, lots of water, 2 T of coconut oil a day.
-1 or 2 hours of exercise each day, especially weights
-great undergarments and great posture

Agreed about plain fat free greek yogurt. High in protein, low in fat. I did eat some cottage cheese, but I'm not a huge fan!

Perhaps you're correct for everyday dress, but even Perfect Posture won't make me look any better in a bikini!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though I'm close to goal, I STILL look fat without the benefit of great undergarments.....

Abby- I couldn't agree more! Everyone tells me I don't need to lose weight but it's one thing to look okay in clothes and another thing all together to look good in a bikini! In fact by big event I am prepping for is a one week trip at our vacation home (on a lake so that means bathing suits all day long) We are having 4 couples up to stay with us and the ladies are all skinny!
Onto exciting news: I had a 3 pound woosh this morning!! here's what I ate yesterday:
-coffee with half and half
-2 hamburgers patties (no cheese, only mustard)
-2 small hot dog weiners
-tomato and mozarella salad with balsamic vinegar/olive oil
-2 small glass red wine (going to cut this out as of today!!)
I can't believe I got such a woosh! I'm guessing carbs/calories were pretty low.
So today I am starting on Stillman/Dukan plan. Lean proteins, fat free greek yogurt with oat bran (dukan recommended). going to try this for a few days to see how it goes and how long I can last on this (I think it is going to be VERY hard not to eat cheese or salad)

Sounds great, Healthy.

Dukan and Stillman are quite similar with their emphasis on lean meats, eggs, fish, and poultry. I think that Dukan includes pickles as well. Both allow some form of dairy, but I'd caution you about the Greek yogurt which does contribute carbs. I've done much better without any dairy aside from a tablespoon of half and half in my coffee each morning. I'd also skip the bran unless you get too constipated. As you can tell, I'm into a VLC regimen.

When I don't cheat, I lose 2.5-3lbs consistently each week. My progression has not been slowed by the diet; it has held up when I've "blown it".

I had succumbed to carbs during several early binges but have done much better by leaning upon ONLY VLC offerings like grilled chicken when I have the munchies. Overall, I've tried to avoid ALL snacking when possible and focus upon meals.

I agree with the others who said you have your best chance at maximizing weight loss by cutting out dairy, alcohol, and all veggies except leafy greens. When I really wanted to lose a few pounds, I never worried about eating fat because I feel starving without it. But I did lower my calories to 1200 and it felt okay because I was more satisfied with less food. I also did some moderate (not very strenuous) exercise. All together, that combination worked very well but it's not meant to be sustained for a long time.

thanks Deborah!! This was an old thread but I appreciate your comments. I have been following your loss- you look amazing. You are at my goal weight (or even under)
I have been doing my own plan, sort of hybrid stillmans/VLC. Lean proteins, no veggies right now as I am leaving for Hawaii in 9 days. So needed maximum results. I've lost 6.5 pounds in 13 days so far. I dropped the yogurt as I think it was slowing my loss. I seeyou are doing high fat, medium protein. How do you like it?

Haha. How do these old threads pop up? I really like what I'm doing now. I am not as strict as the ideas I gave you. I do higher cals on exercise days, and about 1200 cals on no exercise days. Right now I'm doing the Insanity workout, which is 6 days a week, so many more higher cal days (yay!). Wow! 6.5 pounds in 13 days? That's awesome!
