Hey Laurelai.

I'll shoot for the obvious question. Why do you think you can only eat eggs for breakfast?

I'm one of those weird people who don't associate certain types of food for certain meals. Meaning, my breakfasts are usually my leftover dinner from the night before. I had a stuffed pepper for breakfast. And if I want an omelet for dinner, I have that.

How about some bacon? Steak? Personally I love eggs and never get tired of them, especially scrambled with some smokey sharp cheddar cheese, cooked in coconut oil.

Agreed, just eat whatever you want for breakfast. Does not have to be "breakfast" food. I ate a piece of cheddar cheese for breakfast this morning. Sometimes I have a hamburger patty. I was like that before I started eating low-carb, though.

A lot of times I make an almond milk smoothie. Lots of things you can eat!

Mostly I have whatever sounds good for breakfast. Generally leftovers from supper. I am usually starving in the mornings and not very hungry at the evening meal.

Lots of cold steak or burgers. I love cold beef.

very rarely will I have eggs. I like them, but I don't always feel like cooking so I grab cold meat instead.

Low carb smoothie can be good. Or a one minute muffin (OMM) sometimes called a Muffin in a Minute (MIM) topped with butter or nut butter. Yummy and filling!!

I get SO sick of eggs sometimes. I'm off eggs for the moment. This morning I had half of a chocolate minute muffin with a pile of whipped cream and coffee. Yum. Like dessert for breakfast!

You could also try Bunny's Warm Chocolate Pudding recipe...there's a recipe for it in this forum if you search for it. Everybody raves over how delicious it is. I have yet to make it but want to!

Sometimes I have berries with cream and bacon. Sometimes I have whatever low carb stuff I had left over from dinner. Sometimes I *just* have bacon and coffee. Then there's oopsie rolls, mock danish, other flavors of MiM and cream cheese or nut butters that you can put on top of oopsies or mims. Sometimes I use sugar free preserves or jams on them. Then when I get tired of all that tasty stuff, I go back to eggs. LOL!

When you get to the "nut" rung there are low carb granolas you can make. I like whole milk greek yogurt, a few blueberries, and some low carb granola.

I also like hot flax cereal: boil 2/3 cup of water. Add 1/4 cup ground flax and a pinch of salt, microwave on 30% power for 2 minutes. This makes a satisfying hot breakfast like oatmeal. I doctor mine up with a square of unsweetened baker's chocolate and some nuts (not for induction!) or grated coconut and pour a little cream on top. I don't add any sweetener, but you can use some.

sausage?

flax cereal... here's one: Sensato High Fiber Hot Cereal

I will frequently drink an atkins shake or eat an atkins bar for breakfast. I don't have any issues with atkins products (like 1 a day) but some other people do...

Once you're finished with induction, try using a low-carb wrap or pita (Joseph's is 5 gr., so I usually use 1/2). By scrambling up some eggs with spinach, cheese, onion, bacon, ham, whatever you want, and stuffing it in half a pita, you might like the switch. Plus there are so many variations and things you can top it off with - sour cream, salsa, guacamole - possibilities are endless. I've got the pitas waiting in the freezer as I have a few more weeks I want to stay on induction. They're great for whenever you feel like a "sandwich."

Think of breakfast foods you would order at a nice restaurant and try to adapt them for low carb. Eggs do not always have to be part of the equation. The low carb muffins and other foods are close to traditional breakfast foods. Have you ever had bagel and lox for breakfast? I sometimes will do smoked salmon, capers, red onion and cream cheese for breakfast. Just omit the bagel.

I am Turkish, and a traditional Turkish breakfast is spicy beef sausage, feta cheese, tomatoes, and pita bread. Well, you can see how that can be adapted. Lots of choices.

There are many recipes for pancakes, muffins, and french toast in the recipe help section. You might want to ask there.

I Minute Pumpkin Protein Muffin w/Cream Cheese Filling

Cinnamon Rolls

Blueberry Muffins

Here are some examples.

Why? What qualifies something as "breakfast food"?
Would thinly sliced steak served with sunny side egg, sautted zuchhini and grape tomatoes in a butter sauce count or NOT count as breakfast?

Would Chicken Salad with diced egg, mayo, celery, sweet pickle SF and diced tomato and cucumber count or not count as breakfast?

Would Cottage cheese with diced sweet peppers and cucumber, feta cheese, paprika, garlic and onion powder, cracked black pepper and a dash of hot sauce count or not count as breakfast ?

Why are you limiting yourself and then being upset because you are limiting yourself. Remove the limits and eat whatever you want to eat for breakfast.

Food Breaks the Fast, it doesn't matter what type of food it is so long as it's good food.

I personally hate "breakfast food" for breakfast. I'd rather have something I can chew on and that fills my belly with solids. I don't mind having omelettes and scrambled eggs and pancakes and bacon and sausage for lunch or dinner, but Breakfast is whatever i want to eat. And it usually is NOT eggs unless there is alot of cheese and other meats and vegetables involved.

Looks like I'm flying to VA to eat breakfast with Mimi. That Turkish breakfast sounds right up my ally. Except the pita. (that's because GOD has blessed me with a bread tooth instead of a sweet tooth, so 1 pita for me, means 6 pitas)

We shouldn't bash the new person on what their eating habits are. If she wants only eggs for breakfast and it works for her, by all means, eat eggs. Maybe do a quiche.

I understand about wanting to eat breakfast type foods for breakfast. For some reason I can't get myself to want to eat a hamburger or steak in the morning. Maybe one of these days I will try it. Definitely check out the recipe section, it has been a huge help and resource for me. I've tried sausage biscuits, pancakes, cheesecake muffins etc... Good luck to you!

Breakfast ideas instead of bacon/eggs?

Growing up I HATED eggs so didn't even consider them a breakfast food. You may need to adjust your thought patterns on what is/is not breakfast!

Not bashing her for wanting to eat eggs, but if her idea of 'breakfast' food is only eggs then she's not going to have many options, and since she said 1000 ways of eating eggs was gross, I assumed she wanted more options. But you can't enjoy increased options while limiting your options.

just saying breakfast foods are different in different cultures and countries, which means that any food can be "breakfast food" if you eat it for breakfast.

Honestly, it personally offends me that some restaurants that serve all types of foods would limit me to eating only eggs bacon sausage and biscuit because those are the only foods considered Breakfast foods, and I have to wait till a prescribed time of day to eat real food. That's why I like IHOP, they will serve you whatever type of food you want ANYTIME of the day. You can order pancakes for dinner, or steak for breakfast if you want.

Also don't feel I was bashing, but pointing out that there are several ways to eat Low carb, and endless options if you don't limit yourself. And you absolutely MUST learn how and why this works. Or it won't.
If you don't learn the basics you are setting yourself up for failure.
