I just can't totally do without sweetners. I stick with liquid splenda so supposedly there are no hidden carbs. The city water here even if filtered and refrigerated is awful ... I use MiO drinks for a little flavor and sweetness , not at full strength. Bottled water is not in the budget at all . Also for coffee and herbal teas I need some sweet flavor. I am hoping this will not stop the losing.

I can eat decent amounts of cheese, but if I don't measure out my veggies, I will stall. Of course, I'm sure if I cut more cheese out, the veggies might not be so bad, but who wants to cut CHEESE out? LOL!

I only let myself have a tiny bit of cheese in, for instance an omelet. I LOVE cheese and could live on it, but it slows me down.

I have learned over the past month that dairy does not stall me. The months before that, I have learned that aspartame or diet pop does not stall me. I have learned that too many calories does not stall. I have learned that too few calories does not stall me. Same goes for too much protein, too much fat, too many carbs, too few carbs and now I am about to embark on the elimination of something else. In my case something stalls me but it has so far proven to be nothing I am consuming.

Cathy, yes there are so many other variables , like TOM, hormones in general, low thyroid, medications , not just what we eat.

Good for you for systematically investigating the possible causes of stalling--even if you haven't found the problem yet. You have my sympathy.

A couple other possible factors--are you getting enough sleep? Under a lot of stress? My cortisol level shoots up and makes me gain weight if I'm not getting enough sleep or have a lot of stress in my personal life or job. Sometimes stress is something we just have to live with, but for me, aerobic exercise and deep breathing exercises help lower my stress level, and I'm making getting enough sleep a priority as I try to lose weight.

Thank you for your kind words and yes, I have considered a variety of different possible issues such as sleep, stress, timing of meals and on and on. Of course there is an answer - I just haven't uncovered it yet.

I am home from the store with a weeks worth of seltzer in bottles. I hate buying in plastic but I will recycle. So now the noble experiment goes on. I commit to one week without my artificial sweeteners. We shall see if the scale goes anywhere. I do take a liquid vitamin b concoction that has a tad of sorbitol in it, but that is all.

If I do not lose this week I will switch off on coffee again ( 2 cups in morning). I find it hard to believe that is stalling me. I have only the tinyest bit of cheese maybe twice a week and no other dairy.

I have too much pain to up my exercise much. After I drop a good amount I can move around more. I take supplements to deal with the cortisol and I do sleep enough, so that is not it.

I hope I can work this out. Thanks for listening.

Well actually , not long. I just did not lose on the second week. Everything was perfect except the sweeteners. I had one false start back a while and after the first week I went straight into stall for several weeks and therefore gave up. I am trying to be proactive. I definitely go look at that thread. Thanks for the guidance.
