What is YOUR ideal body weight?????

Of course, we all have a subjective sense of our goal weight. However, there are some quantitative measures out there as well. The most widely used in the DEVINE formula:

For women: 100 lbs for 5' and 5 lbs for each additional inch.

For men: 110 lbs for 5' and 5 lbs for each additional inch.

This formula was mildly altered later by Robinson and Miller.

How do you calculate YOUR goal????

With that calculation I would weigh 120. That is to low for me. I am big boned so 135 to 140 is a good weight for me.

That's funny, I'm 5'3" and 115 is my goal. I weighed 112-115 last summer and felt great! Why oh why did I let myself go :P I'll get back there eventually

That formula would have me at 125#. I also am big boned, really doubt I'd ever get to 125!!. My goal is about 145/150. That is where I feel best. At 167 right now and stalled, but bg #'s are spectacular, home test A1c 2 weeks ago was 5.8%, so I won't complain! Losing weight is the bonus in controlling my diabetes.

That sounds close to me. By that measure my ideal weight would be 125. A few years ago I was down to 135 and felt pretty good, but thought that I could stand to lose a few more pounds. At my lowest when I was lowcarbing in 2003, I was 110. I looked great, but couldn't really maintain that weight. I'm in the 160's now, which is squarely in the overweight category.

Using that formula, I should be at 165#, which is close to my preferred 170-175#.

um, yea, I'm supposed to be 140.. now excuse me while I go laugh myself to death.. I'm thinking more like 185 +/- 5 is more realistic for me..

That puts me at 145 which I'm pretty certain would make me too skinny.

I'm shooting for 160 eventually.

I used to think the same thing about myself. Thought my hips were wide and I just had wide shoulders and a c-cup. WELP, once I got down in weight I was a 32A and was wearing a size 1 and 3 in juniors sizes! I discovered I had been wrong for a very long time. I have a more petite frame than I realized.

With that calculation I should be 130. I'm pretty sure I'd look like a cancer patient at that weight. I do have a large frame so right now my goal is 150 but since I've never been that low before I'll have to reevaluate once I reach goal. My lowest adult weight was around 170... and I looked great but could have stood to lose another 20# I think.

Well, with that calculation I would be 130#s. That is super lean for me and I've been that lean before. Not sure I could sustain that, but who knows?! What I would really like to be is about 140-145. That would be a comfortable weight to maintain.

I've always liked that formula, and it's what I used to come up with my goal weight, assuming that you would subtract 5 lbs. for every inch BELOW 5 feet!

By formula, I should be 120. Not happening. I would be thrilled to be at 140. I feel great at that weight. I'm a bit older now, and skinny doesn't look good on me anymore.

According to that I should weigh 110 pounds. I think that would be impossible. I am large framed and have a large chest. My chest alone probably adds 15 pounds.

That would put me at 130, and I would look like the walking undead at that low of a weight. I have pics of me at 140-ish and I looked gaunt even at 10 pounds higher.

I should be 140, according to that logic. But here I am sitting strong at 135! Can't complain about that. I think that 130-135 is a range I see myself maintaining. I feel pretty good at my current weight, but still have some abdominal, overhanging fat I'd ultimately love to be rid of.

No way I could reach that. Right now, I'm 6'4" with alot of muscle weight. My old playing weight in college when I was ripped was 235. According to that chart, my perfect weight is supposed to be 190. I haven't weighed that since I was a freshman in HS.

That would put me at 140 for ideal weight, which is about right for me. If I get into the 130s I'm way to thin. I always thought I was large boned but once the weight comes off I find I'm really not.

Imagining myself at 160 puts me in mind of some starved waif whom I would be pointing at going 'give that girl a sammich!' I remember well how I looked and felt at 210 lbs - I thought I was fat then, but I was so not. I have a quite large and well proportioned frame and at 6' tall, 160 seems awfully light. But who knows? I'm shooting for 200-210 and I'll see how I feel at that point. Anyone wanna invite me to play on their all-girl football team?

Words outta my mouth! I'm a very curvy girl even without the weight. All hips, booty and breasts. LOL At 100 lbs I would look like a 12 year old girl with breast implants. HAHA! And while I do not like all the weight I'm carrying now I do like some padding to go with my curves. Just so long as it's healthy padding with plenty of muscle tone.

One of my best friends is the same height as you Heather. She is one of my friends here locally and also doing LC with a couple of us (yay for back-up). She's told me before that she's uncomfortable sharing her current and goal weights since it's so much more than everyone else. I've told her a million times that if you take that whole foot height difference between us away we'd probably be about the same, with her maybe even smaller than me. Height makes a huge difference! On the shorter end, though, it just makes you look like an aging Oompa Loompa. LOL I read an interview with Bob Hoskins years ago (an actor I absolutely adore) and he described himself as 5' tall and cubic. I've stolen it ever since! LOL
