MEnopausal, low thyroid blah blah!

OK I turned 50 recently. I am a total ATKINS advocate. Got to my goal weight a few years ago following Atkins. I went from 171 to 129. I KNOW how wonderful lowcarbing is.

Over the past couple of years I got slack with lowcarb and started adding in carbs, then cakes then cookies, then pie.

Welllll..you can imagine I then gained my weight back. I was curious as to why I was so ravenous for food and binging!

Recently I have also had some seriously 'weird' hormonal/menopausal issues plus I was diagnosed with low thyroid (hypothyrodism). Anyone else have this?? This is what Oprah supposedly had. Isnt it?

Well the doc put me on a med called Levothyroxine for the Low thryoid. I just filled my first prescription and havent had my first pill yet. I was all excited to think this med might help with the weight loss and to balance out my thryoidal issues. (Is thyroidal a word??hehe).

So I was doing a random search online and found THIS lovely site_>

Hmmm. WEIGHT GAIN drug??

SOO confusing! Any thought on this would be appreciated. BTW I am back to Atkins induction.

Hi Michelle!! Bummer on the cravings. That sucks! I am hypothyroid and although I have gained weight while taking this drug during the past 11 years, I'm not sure it was caused by it, either because I've also lost weight...sloooooowwwwwly.

This drug has stopped working for me for whatever reason so now I take it with another thyroid drug called Cytomel. Hoping and praying this works so I can feel better and restart my weight loss.
