Seriously just a vent moment
I watch so many people who lose 10 pounds in a week or even three weeks..
I have lost 16 in three months and have only introduced a 1/4 cup raspberries twice a week, some unsweetened almond milk - a almond flour bisquit here and there and cream cheese muffins Never a cheat moment... mostly my day consists of 2 cream cheese muffins.. piece of meat or salad... and wings or burgers without buns for dinner... THATS IT I have been told to just go back to eggs and meat.. but like I have posted before..my life cant be induction... i need a bit of LOVE And yet.. weeks with nothing... Again, just a VENT moment as I am THRILLED to have lost 16 but sometimes it just gets me a bit down... j

If it makes you feel better, I've only lost 18 lbs in 3 months and have stayed at induction level (except for a vodka drink on the weekends). I'm 26, workout hard and work hard physically at work. Some of us just take longer than others I guess! Keep it up.

I so understand your frustration, I have been stalled about 4 months. Whether I stay completely strict induction, or go ahead and have a couple of glasses of wine on Saturday night and have flax muffins, it makes no difference.
It has been driving me crazy and I really don't know what else to do! |

Have you tracked how many calories you are eating a day? It doesn't sound like you are eating much. A lot of people have posted that when they didn't eat enough calories their bodies held onto to their weight and once they started eating more their weight loss restarted.
I know it's hard when you see other people losing faster/easier but hang in there - you are doing great and the weight will come off ![]() Audrey |

I am one of those people who stalls when I don't eat ENOUGH. It's important to track your calories occasionally, just to make sure you are getting at least a minimum amount. We can't post links, but I like a BMR calculator you can find by googling "What they don't tell you about low carb diets" by PH Launt. Keep in mind when you use her calculator you should put in total carbs, not NET. The calculator will tell you how many calories you must eat to lose weight (I consider that the minimum) and how many to maintain weight (I consider that the maximum).
When you don't eat enough calories, your metabolism slows so that you don't lose weight. Extreme caloric deficit causes you to lose lean muscle mass rather than fat, which is also not a good thing. I just listened to a podcast interview with Jonathan Bailor, author of the Smarter Science of Slim on Underground Wellness, and he explained it so clearly. Remember, if you increase your calories, they should come a little from protein and mostly from good fats (saturated and monounsaturated fats). |

I am so sorry you are struggling. Personally, I can't drink almond milk or eat almonds. It's a sensitivity of some sort. I eat them and will not lose an ounce. I won't gain, just won't lose. Maybe give up anything "nut" related for three days and see if it helps.

Lots of great ideas here. If I was "stuck" I would change up something different, anything really. Just something to shock your body. You could try any of the ideas listed.
Personally, what I have done is to track my calories. I do a modified JUDD where one day, I eat around 1000 calories, and the next day I eat around 2000 calories. I keep my carbs under 30. I am loving this so much. I can't imagine doing anything different. Maybe you actually need a few more carbs. My DD can't function without at least one meal per day having something like a potato, rice, beans. She limits it to that one meal though and she is losing weight. I hope that you find what works for you soon. I know it's frustrating to work so hard and to not see that scale move. |

Do you exercise/or get some movement throughout the day?~ sometimes a few laps around the track can make the numbers drop. When running or walking, sometimes your weight will go up one or two pounds and then drop like 3-5 pounds. Good Luck! Your menu seems flawless.

Hey, 16 lbs is better than 0! Switch it up and have a no-protein only veggie day and fat day. Switch up your exercise. Do a "fat fast" - I went a month and didn't lose much and then 3 lbs in a week! Remember to judge what your body reacts to.

Have you been journaling? Sometimes it takes me a close reading or two of my intake to spot the problem. One lesson I learned is that two foods of equal calories and/or equal carbohydrate are NOT equal--better to consider them distinctly.

Would you rather LOSE 16 pounds on 3 months or GAIN 2 pounds in 3 months. You're doing great! Keep it up and it will be 25-40 pounds in a year's time.

Have you had your thyroid levels checked? It's worth considering.
But 16 pounds in 12 weeks isn't a terrible rate of loss, even though I completely sympathize with your frustration. If it helps, most of the folks losing super quickly are younger, or male, or are starting out at higher weights. I try not to compare myself with them . |

I feel your pain ! I have gained and lost the same 4-5 lbs for about 5 months - before that I lost so easily. I do cheat some, for a meal or a day, but get right back on track. Due to a foot problem, I can't walk at the park or track ( besides I'm on my feet for 12 hr nursing shifts ). But I do small amts of pilates.
Oh well, at least the scale isn't going UP ! Keep up the good work |

Hang in there! I am in the same boat. I've been doing low carb for three weeks now and only lost an initial 5 pounds. The weight used to fall off so fast in the past when I did low carb. I am now 53 years old, and I am figuring that my age can be a factor in my slow weight loss. My new attitude is that I am just so grateful for gaining control of my eating. I am so addicted to eating and had a real problem with bingeing. It feels so good to have control. I also feel 200% better and healthier.
Two things that I have been doing which I think could possibly be a problem is that I am eating a lot of nuts and seeds and I also drink a lot of coffee (mostly decaf). Do you think that could be slowing me down? I love this site! It is so motivating and encouraging to me! |

I find that my weight loss stalls when I am eating the same things. The foods that you have gradually added in have not made a difference so why not drop them and add a different combination. I do find myself eating most of the same foods over and over again and when I switch things up, a loss will occur. I starting baking a steak in the oven with butter and eating every bite and it always results in a loss. In the past I was eating chicken all of the time. I have also added 2T. of EVCO into my diet making the amazing pudding that was posted under one of the Coconut Oil topics and lost 2 pounds this week.
You have done great....just switch things up and hopefully you will see some additional progress. Good Luck! |

Thoughts
Keeping track of calories and then fat and what i eat and and
Ahhhhhhh its like weight watchers all over...the stress ![]() I hate to think i should add more calories as i never count them..i just eat low carb VERY til im full... I do have pistachios. Maybe its the nuts.. Changing it up... Hmmmm I love the cream cheese muffins because two keep me full soooo long... Maybe ditch the almond milk smoothie with the muffins.. Thanks for venting with me. I see that im not alone.. How in the world do you figure out what it is..just take out one food (say the nuts) and wait a week? Add more food (which totally scares me) I just weighed myself and have gained two pounds. AND THIS was my best week without any low carb bread or sweets that i enjoyed weeks ago Oooooo the HORROR ![]() Hmmmmm it seems i have some thinking to do |

I would put "making the pudding" as my #1 change
Don't stress....I bet if you added more calories you would lose. I don't know exactly what you are eating but for some reason I don't think it is enough. A small change either way isn't scary when you know you can change it back. I used this period as a time to really get to know my body. I can tell for me after 3 - 5 days how a change might turn out. I have to admit that I don't track a thing and never have....I use how my clothes fit and how I feel as a guide. I do try to weigh each morning. If I gain a few pounds as a result of something that I have done it will fall back off within a short amount of time. The boards are a great support and we have all been there. Make it a positive experience and not something that stresses you out......life is too short! |

Get you thyroid checked as others have advised, you might have a sluggish thyroid. Also some people report dairy or nuts stall them. You can try eliminating dairy (like cream cheese) for 2 weeks and see what your loss is like. Then eliminate the nut & seed products for 2 weeks (with the cream cheese back in your diet along with any other dairy you eat) and see how it goes. Usually a week isn't enough to see a loss via elimination, especially for us women and our hormones

It can be so FRUSTRATING. I am very, and I mean VERY sensitive to Sodium. If I don't drink enough fluids, my body just HOLDS onto the fluid in my tissues something awful. At times I can see the fluid in my ankles or knees. There were mornings Id awaken and my fingers were like little chubby sausages.
)How's your sodium? Nuts and cheeses are pretty high... Have you tried upping your fluid intake? It's an easy place to start. Make a nice pitcher of Lemon water and make it a goal to finish it each day. Good luck, and TRY not to compare your loss to others. KUTGW!!!
