Tea.. couple questions.
I like UNsweet tea. I know this is a shocker living in the south, but I really do like the taste of it.
I don't count any I drink during the day toward my water count.. so I actually do get enough water. Some days I drink over 100 ounces of the H20. Just curious how much tea you guys drink? I like having a couple glasses some days.... some days I don't drink any. Also, a little rant while I'm here. Last couple of restaurants I've been to, I've ordered UNsweet tea.. to take a big gulp to find out ITS not UNSWEET tea.. I mean come on people.. are you trying to kill me or what?!!?

Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot! It depends if I've made any and have some in the fridge. I don't buy that it doesn't count as water bit. Logically, I just can't!

I drink 2-3 cups of Yogi Green Tea Kombucha every morning and then I will have some herbal teas later in the day. If I go out to eat, I sometimes get an iced tea or water with lemon. I use Truvia in my tea though, as I like it sweetened.
I have a bunch of tea at home....matcha, rooibos, black, white, herbals, etc. |

My favorites are Good Earth Original with breakfast, green before lunch, and oolong as a nightcap. I keep a broken cinnamon stick in the bottom of my mug and replace it once a week or so.
I know what you mean about restaurant tea. I'll only drink it if it's self-serve AND there are sweetener packets next to the container since it probably means the tea is unsweetened. |

Up here, if they have fresh brewed in a restaurant, it's unsweet. Or they only have canned/bottled, and it's sweet (and yuk). I lived in Atlanta for 4 yrs (I considered Alabama for college-- roll tide!
) so when I travel in the US, I ask for unsweet tea... I'm usually ok, but I do take that first sip carefully! That said-- I'm semi-allergic to caffeine Ya'll missed the posts from my day that I drove 6hrs and just drank tea and coke zero the whole way ![]() I do find for some reason, green tea isn't keeping me up at night. So I can safely have a cup of some sort of regular green tea (I have a chocolate variety, I have a jasmine dragon's eye), hot, in the morning and still get to sleep at night. If I make a container of cold tea, I usually buy a decaf powder variety, with splenda. Or I make some fresh, also decaf. Did you know you can cold brew any tea? Not just the special ones marketing that way? Just let the tea and water sit in the fridge for 24hrs-- way less bitterness is extracted (from say, green). And like Jase above-- I've got roiboos, green (caf and decaf), oolong, some other green/black blends... I've got one that's nuts and apple pieces (forever nuts, by davids tea), green decaf chai, roiboos chai, decaf earl grey... You want tea? I GOT TEA! ![]() LOL (but unless it's decaf and cold, I don't drink more than 1 large mug per day! #teahorder) Soren

How bout Richardson!!! Roll Tide! We have a whole pantry shelf full of teas. We don't count tea as water, either. We like cold tea with meals and different hot teas other times. My husband always ordered unsweet tea and almost always got the first glass, then the server would come around and slosh sweet tea in for the refill and he would have to send it back. I do not like southern sweet tea! ![]() Last edited by rose1; 05-03-2012 at 09:20 PM.. |

I've never liked tea hot, except for oolong. When I was making iced tea at home I would usually drink a 2 quarts a day sweetened with truvia.
If I ordered unsweet tea in a restaurant, I was always very cautious with the first small taste! Unfortunately tea stains my teeth terribly so I've completely given it up. |

I have a ridiculous amount of tea in my cupboards. I had to buy a special container to hold it all to save space! lol
If I make a big 4 qt thing of tea to put in the fridge, I can drink 1-2 quarts of it a day. So, anywhere from 24 to 32 to 64 ounces of tea a day! ![]() |

Love it, I make sweet tea using splenda. LOL, it took ten years living in the deep south but I finally acquired a taste for sweet tea. I make a gallon or two a day. (Hubby and I drink a lot of tea)

I was a dye-in-the-wool plain black coffee drinker for years but around Feb. this year I made a switch to tea in order to replace some of the coffee and get the health benefits of tea. I was drinking wayyy too much coffee/caffeine. I didn't like tea that much, felt like it was just coffee's weaker cousin, lol.
Anyway, I gradually developed my taste for it, and now I adore green tea every morning. Sometimes I have it in the afternoon or early evening too, since the caffeine doesn't seem to bother me. For hot tea, I brew it in a 4 cup coffee maker, putting 2 tea bags in the basket, about 1/2 packet of Truvia or other stevia in the pot itself, and brew it. Then it's ready, stays hot, already sweetened. I have 4 of those cups per day, occasionally a total of 6. In a restaurant, I get unsweetened iced tea and put stevia in it if I remembered to bring packets, otherwise I use a bit of Splenda which all the restaurants seem to have now.

Republic of Tea has some chocolate flavored teas--my favorite is chocolate strawberry! I love it hot with a spoonful of coconut oil after dinner, no sweetener needed.

Soren watch their teas. I order from them, too. Their new "cupcake" line (and several others "oh canada" is one of my favorites lol) have sugar, sprinkles, candies added for sweetness.
I emailed them about the new birthday cake flavor and it's 10cals, 2g sugar per cup! |

I saw those new ones (some have JELLYBEANS) so I always read carefully-- I think the one I have with apple, nuts, and some beet chips for color isn't too bad... but the stuff they put in tea nowadays! Hi! I'm in GTA too
The brand I bought was Stash. Check whole foods (there's on on Avenue Rd, one in oakville, one at square one) since they usually have a great selection of teas. S. |

I have Twinings Lady Grey often. In fact, one of my favourite 'blends' is simply Earl & Lady Grey in the same pot/cup! I didn't think it was uncommon, it's sold at most grocery stores.

Add me to the list of tea lovers. I'm glad my World Market is an hour away because my husband would kill me if I could shop there even once a month. He says I have "way too much tea." But I also drink a couple quarts a day. Always cold. And the only tea I like sweet is a chai latte (over ice please.) It drives me crazy when I ask in a restaurant for iced tea unsweetened and they refill me with sugary tea. It was hard for me to learn not to reflexively spit it out.

I'm another tea lover. I have a rather large tea stash and drink a travel mug of coffee with coconut oil first thing, then tea the rest of the day but mostly hot tea. I even have a loose leaf tea collection at work

I almost never drink hot tea, but once in a while I get a craving for Lapsang Souchong, so I keep a tin of it around.
In the summer, however, I drink gallons upon gallons of iced tea. My favorite iced tea is Earl Grey, cold-brewed, with no sweetener, and in hot weather I will drink at least a gallon a day. On those days, I have to remind myself not to drink my morning coffee, though, or else all the caffeine sends me into orbit. Oh, and I have a Southern friend who calls me "a pervert" and "unnatural" because I cannot abide sweet tea. I'm pretty sure she's joking. I think she's joking...?... ![]() Last edited by More Butter Please; 05-05-2012 at 10:22 PM.. Reason: all those words, and they still weren't enough... |

Some places in the South like it sweeter than others... I think I drank it when I lived in ATL (though maybe I always did unsweet and added sweetener? long time ago...) but I do remember a trip to Alabama and the client brought in ribs etc for lunch, along with a couple GALLONS of sweet tea-- and it was just shy of syrupy.
that was crazy! |

Growing up we lived on sweet tea... really sweet tea.
When I started low carb I now drink unsweet tea with sweetener....... Why don't y'all count it as water ??? I drink at least 100 oz a day or more of that and Mio water.......... If I cheat, I always order sweet tea with my meal cause I miss it ;/ |

Whenever I order iced tea at a restaurant, I ask the server like 3 times if it is unsweetened! After the iced tea is brought to the table, I take a tiny little sip before I add my Truvia, just to make sure!
