Almost two weeks, not a lot of progress, but I have a ?

I am almost done with two weeks of induction, and really haven't even lost two pounds. I've only lost one pound officially.. it had been two... The scale this morning said 135 so I gained one overnight.
I had just bought a brand new pkg of ketostix which have said I'm in ketosis since two days into induction. Also, I feel major appetite suppression every day. I have not cheated too bad, I've had alcohol(zero carb drinks) a few times but still always register as being in ketosis in the morning. And that's the only induction no-no I've had. So why no loss?
I did start induction at the end of TOM, and I also have been feeling ill and recently discovered I have a breast infection. This stresses me out even more because I don't have insurance and I'm scared. What is going on with my body?!
I am so discouraged. Do you think the infection could have something to do with it? Due to that I haven't been able to exercise because the pain is too much
I am just feeling so sad. I've been so good with my WOE and I feel like nothing is happening. Any ideas? Advice? TY. Being able to read everyone's posts on these boards is so motivating and helps me stay on track.

Illness and medications DEFINITELY interfere with our losses. You probably are continuing to lose, but water retention due to your illness is masking it. Be patient--a whoosh is coming

(P.S. I had mastitis shortly after my second baby was born, and holy moly was I sick! High fever, chills, body aches. It was like the flu. I hope you can get some antibiotics and get it knocked down!)

I agree!
Infection=Inflammation=retention of water=weight going up on the scale.
You could have lost fat but it is not showing up on the scale right now
due to the infection.

I don't weigh when I am sick.
Hang in there you will soon be on your way!!

You won't lose as much when sick

Calories do count, esp so close to goal

Poor baby! I've had mastitis before and it is pretty awful! Felt like I got hit by a truck! You will need some antibiotics for that, tho. I don't lose unless I have vomiting. Stress pumps out cortisol which can affect weight loss, too. ((((HUGS))) Hope you feel the thing soon!!!

Couple of things...I'd get rid of the ketostix. They're an unreliable indicator of ketosis. It's more likely an indicator of how much/little water you are drinking. If I forget to drink my water, my ketostix are deep purple. If I drink my 64 fl oz throughout the day, they don't even change color because I'm diluting the ketones in my urine.

Second, you're so close to goal that you may have to work a bit harder to lose those last few pounds. What do they say...cut back 500 calories per day if you want to lose 1 lb per week? Depending on what your maintenance calories are, you may not have even 250 calories a day to cut unless you're willing to be drastic...and that has its own pitfalls.

You can go the other route and exercise, but look at the calories burned for most of these (unless you're doing a boot camp type training) and you still won't burn huge amounts of calories (and exercise just makes me hungry and want to eat more).

If you aren't doing it already, I'd start tracking your food in one of the online food calculators just to make sure you're on target re: calories, fats, proteins and carbs. If they're all in line, then just be patient.

Thank you, I suppose being sick could be the issue. I do track my meals through ****** and keep my calories under 1400 on average.
I'm trying to get rid of the infection naturally because I'm afraid of antibiotics. I have managed to make it ten years without having to take them and I'd really rather not. I've been eating a lot of raw garlic and it is definitely feeling better today. I'm able to get around the house and do things without being in excruciating pain! But, it still hurts. I hope it gets better quickly without the need for a clinic visit.
Thank you all for the insight and suggestions.
I was back up to 136 this morning which doesn't make sense at all to me. I've been so clean about my eating and not really hungry at all. I haven't been tempted by a single food item and I'm not even THINKING about food. I guess I'll just have to keep trying and hope the weight leaves with the infection

Oh man!! I am so sorry you are ill, and I am also sorry to hear you have no insurance... I am sure this fluctuation in weight is due to stress and the infection unfortunately.

I worry that your infection could become an abscess. Are you treating the affected area with moist heat (A facecloth dunked in Hot, but not boiling water works well if you haven't got a moist heating pad)?? Try this 15-20mins 4 times per day. Also please watch for any signs of increased redness/tenderness or a lump in your armpit. Also monitor your temperature. I hope you are able to get better soon.

I dislike the overuse and prescription of antibiotics as well, but in the case of a breast infection it's most often needed and will clear up the problem very quickly. Good luck and TRY not to worry about your weight til this infection clears up.

well, you are so close to your goal, you can't expect the same results you had when you started out at 175 (or others have when they start at 200+, 300+, or even 400+ lb!)

just be patient. be calm. love yourself and be kind to yourself.

I hope you get better soon *hug*

I think you just don't have far to go and it's going to be slow going. I think the average loss on induction is 10% of total goal- for you that would be 2 pounds total! Add in the illness and abx and you are just slightly under that.
I'm higher than you and it's still not coming off fast. I'm averaging just over a lb. a week. I'm doing 1500 cals and 20-30 carbs/day. I know it feels so slow but in the end it's still going down so hang in there! It's so refreshing to feel like food is not controlling my thoughts and life anymore .
Mastitis stinks!! Are you nursing? Be careful of going to low in calories if so...if you notice a dip in supply you might need to up the fluids especially. Hang in there!

Well I am feeling a lot better today, and NO hospital trip! I used natural antibiotics: a lot of raw garlic and garlic oil supplements. I am healing quite well and I am so grateful to be able to say that. I was worried!!! I am not nursing, I had an injury to a piercing and I got mastisis. But I do have a 6 year old and I remember getting mastisis after she was born.. it was just as terrible then, too.
My weight was back down two pounds today after I gained two pounds the other day. I haven't lost anything, just gone back and forth. Maybe next week I'll be able to see a difference when I should be back to my old healthy self.
Thank you everyone for the replies. I forget how close to goal I am and that weight won't simply fall off. I guess I've just gone for too long without trying to lose weight that I forgot how things work :P I think I'll be lucky if I make it a lb a week.
