Struggling
I'm struggling a little here. Frustrated with no loss for 5 weeks. No change in clothes fitting in that time either. I LOST weight on vacation, got to a new low (193) and now bouncing between 194-196.
I have remained VLC. Not a single cheat since I recommitted my life to this WOE in December. Even a 2 week M&E fast did nothing for me. I'm feeling desperate right now. I'm the first person to encourage someone to stick with this- trust the process. I am feeling not so encouraged or trusting today. ERRRRR. Thinking about trying JUDDD and staying LC. The thought of going back to tracking everything I eat is sad for me- but so is remaining overweight. Thanks for listening ![]()

I am struggling as well. After almost 6 weeks of bouncing back and forth of 3 to 5 lbs and holding steady to the 200lbs I finally broke into the 100's. Just know the weight loss will pick up again. This will be the 2nd time since December I've stopped losing. I know for some on this board it's been way longer.
I had to give up dairy, diet pop, my morning coffee and so on just to see what the hold up is and still don't know. Seems like just all at once I lost 3lbs over night. Just keep pressing on it will happen for you. |

My experience is that although I initially lost just watching carbs, when I stalled it was because I didn't have a calorie deficit. Some people will naturally eat less when they lower carbs, but I'm not one of them. And no matter what you're eating, you don't lose unless there's a caloric deficit.
One I understood that, I was able to lose steadily to goal. I am very carb sensitive, but just reducing carbs wasn't enough. |

This is definitely how it works with my body. I can stay under twenty carbs every day and not lose weight until I reduce my calories. As a matter of fact I seriously chopped a lot of calories today. I realized my calories were creeping higher and higher. I was adding a little of this, or an extra one of that. It all adds up. I really hate tracking my calories but have decided that is how it has to be from now on. I discovered by tracking that my breakfast was 800 calories. It didn't feel like I was eating that much but that's way too many calories for one meal. |

I don't disagree that maybe calories play a part- just seems against my LC thinking I guess. The advise here often is to increase calories. I really can't lower my carbs much more, or up my fat much more as I have climbed those ladders already. I plan to track for a few days and just see where I am.
I was ok with my pause in loss for 4 weeks- but week 5 has me over the edge! I didn't stall like this before- that I remember. I fasted today- nothing but coffee and HWC. My plan was to start JUdDD with a DD but I found I would rather eat nothing than have to count it! So, we can call today an IF I lost so much before- never counting calories, not very active, got to goal and was able to maintain with some carbs added back in. I wish I could go back and stay on the wagon. Because it isn't so easy now. I'll get over feeling like this and all will be ok. I just appreciate you guys understanding! |

Stalls definitely happen, but hang in there! I stalled after I lost 115 pounds. There will be set points, and they will be frustrating, but the weight and inches will start coming off again! You will be great!

I'm in the same situation. It is super frustrating, but I am firmly convinced that if I stay on plan, the stall will eventually end, and I'll start losing again.
It may be slow coming, but it is going to happen. |

If you don't want to count calories, then try cutting back on serving sizes and being careful of calorie dense foods.
Dr Atkins said, Calories count, Carbs count more. Many of us had to count both to get to goal. |

I agree with Leo, calories do matter. Unfortunately. I always got stuck at the 15-20 lbs lost point with Atkins 72. I ate next to NO carbs, drank water, did the fat fast. I recently switched to JUDDDD and started working out for 45 minutes a day on my eliptical machine and stared to drop weight consistently. I do low carb along with the alternate day fast and still reap the low carb benefits. It,s been 7 weeks and I'm down 23 pounds. I wish I would have known about this before, it would have saved me some frustration. Of course everyone is different and you need to do what works for you. Hang in there, you have done so well already, don't get discouraged.

Thanks everyone for the support- I love LCF.
After my no-eating day yesterday I was down 4 lbs this morning to a new low of 192. I TOTALLY understand that it is because I didn't eat yesterday, but it made me feel good I'm going to start paying attention to my calories- I think I'll see some days where I might have too many and pleanty that I have not enough (though I'm not totally sure what too many would be exactly). I also am going to rotate fasting or super low calorie days into my week and see how that goes. I also am going to try to move up the carb ladder a little. I've been VLC (or M&E) since December- I'm going to try to up that a little and see if it doesn't help. Again- thanks everyone for the support. ![]() |
