Oh..Is this a big surgery? One of the men at work many years ago had the hiatal hernia surgery and it was a big deal.
It depends..You might only be allowed clear liquids, but there is a protein drink that is clear that WLS patients drink. Of course, protein shakes are the best choice to get your extra protein in. Good luck. |

It's actually a incision-less procedure, so it's not a big deal. It does not have to be clear liquids, just liquids. I'm just not crazy about most of the protein shakes so if anybody knows of a good one, that would be helpful. Thanks!

I drink the Slim Fast Low Carb chocolate shakes every morning - 20 gms. of protein and 2 net carbs. I love the flavor - much nicer than the Atkins shakes or any of the others I've tried. Keeps me satisfied for several hours!

You are a funny guy, Fatcat!!![]() I was going to suggest the obvious, soup. But there are so many different types you could make. My all time fav is celeriac (celery root) but any # such as broccoli, cauliflower, egg drop and on and on......Good luck with your surgery! |

Yesterday, I saw a smoothie recipe that included 1/2 - 1 avocado. I haven't tried it, but if you are counting net carbs, it may be a good way to get more fat. Per USDA, one avocado = 320 calories, 30 g fat, 4 g protein, 17 g carbs - 13 g fiber for 4 net g carbs. The other LC ingredients were almond milk (.6 net g carbs/cup) and a couple tbsp of almond butter (3 net g carbs/tbsp).
