Atkins Flu??

Hey everyone. So I think I have the "Atkins flu". The first time I tried Atkins (Nov. 2010) I had the same symptoms, but I didn't know anything about there being an "Atkins flu" so I figured one of my kids had just gotten me sick. I kept a log then too and I remember being horrified that I had been popping Hall's lozenges all day and at the end of the day was like "wait, I wonder if these have any carbs in them" and behold, there was a whopping 4 carbs each and I had taken 4 by days end and had went over my carb limit.

Today I've got the same symptoms and yesterday when I was googling something else I just happened to scan by something that said "Atkins flu", though I didn't click it because I had no idea what it was. This morning though I remembered it so I googled Atkins flu. All this to ask, is there any easy way to get through this quick? I'm on my 12th day of Induction and it's been going so well. I hate being sick and feeling off balance.

Broth can help ya through it. The best thing is o stay hydrated and not cheat.

Got what feels like it here, but it is the real deal. It is going around....flu/virus. So could be that too for you. same treatment though.

Hope you feel better soon!

I'm always surprised when people report "flu" at extended periods.

With me, Day 1 I'm fine, Day 2 a bit crappy, Day 3 fine again.
Usually it comes on past 24 hours and so I only have to put up with a few hours before going to bed early and feeling ok in the morning.

I'm always very thirsty and so liquids do seem to help a bit, but they are not a cure.

The closest I equate it to in terms of discomfort is caffeine withdrawal. Both are quite similar (for me).

John.

Definitely withdrawal. The stronger the addiction I've read, the worse the withdrawal.

Hang in there. You are almost through the worst of it. I had this around day 9 or 10, but by day 13 I had unbelievable energy!

I started a week ago today. And I have felt weak and tired pretty much since day 2. I am trying really hard to stick with it and make it past this "Atkins flu". I hope that I will start feeling better soon because my butt is dragging. Making this a VERY long week!

Make sure you're eating enough, and drinking enough. I take a b-complex vitamin in the morning, that helps. This time around wasn't that bad.

Hang in there, and have some bacon!

I felt really crappy for about the first ten days. I was weak, tired, suffered with several headaches, loss of appetite, you name it I felt it. But, it eventually did subside and I felt more energy than I have in years. Hang in there, because it`s so worth it when you come out of the other side and start getting consistent losses. I stayed on an extended induction for over eight months and lost the bulk of my weight. Unfortunately for me I have to stay near an induction level carb count to just maintain my current weight.

I think I may be experiencing some induction flu, too - day 9 for me and drinking a ton of water this morning + eating bacon seems to have helped.

I am also considering cutting down (or out) the amount of stevia I consume (2 packets x 2 cups of coffee every morning).

Yesterday I also drank a Zevia cola (sweetened with stevia) and I think it really upset my stomach - not sure if this has happened to anyone else before?
