Sweeteners

What is your sweetener of choice? I've been using Stevia, but wonder what else is out there besides Splenda. What is good for baking?

I don't bake but I use Sweet'n Low in my tea. It is the pink packet. Splenda gives me headaches.

I don't bake very often but the best sweetener for everyday use (imho), is liquid sucralose as it tastes good and has zero carbs.

I use Necta Sweet saccharin tablets. They are easy to crush between two spoons.

I grow stevia sometimes, but find I feel better with saccharin tablets than stevia.

I do not use Sweet'n'Low packets because they contain maltodextrin. I don't use Equal (aspartame) because it causes many troubles. Excerpt from that link:
Aspartame is metabolized in the body to its components: aspartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol.

There is chemical information about other sweeteners at those links, too. Here is the one for cyclamate.

Hope this helps a bit.

I bake alot and use a combination of liquid sucralose(ez sweets) and erythritol...this seems to balance things out...especially when using chocolate or cocoa.

Me too. Sometimes I throw in some xylitol too. I find a mix is safer. EZ Sweetz rocks except when the dropper gets clogged!!
