Cucumber Carbs

When looking at Calorie King its suggests no Carbs after you deduct the Dietary Fiber see link CalorieKing.com.au - Food Data. Nutrition information about your favourite food. fat, fibre, protein and more

But on ****** cucumber comes up very high in Carbs see link http://www.******.com/fitness/FoodVi...dds2-f75111000

Anyone know the right Carbs?

When looking for calories on food, always look at the USDA nutrient database. I never trust the commercial calorie counters (Besides, the link you gave doesn't let me in...I don't have an account there.)

Checking cucumber, peeled, raw, the USDA testing shows one cup of cubed (or weighed, 133 grams, which is much more accurate) has 16 calories, 2.87 carbs and .9 grams of fiber. If you subtract fiber, that will leave you with 1.97 grams of carb per 133 grams or one cup.

Apart from any other differences between the sources, US figures count fibre as carbs, so you can deduct the fibre to get net carbs. Other countries generally don't include fibre as a carb, so if you're using Australian or European data, you don't need to subtract fibre to get net carbs.

Your calorieking link is an Australian based one, so fiber would already be deducted.
It can be very confusing.
I suggest you use one site for your info instead of comparing, if you want to keep sane

try accessing the carb guide right here.

Also, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution as a listing of quite a few foods in his book. You get the total, and the net cqrbs for each food. Cukes are also listed in his induction list. Fortunately, i am not a BIG

Oh ya kidding me lol

I went and took everything i bought and had in the fridge and at home dips everything and deducted the fiber of the back of the label and now i'm told Australia already deduct fiber? is this for everything sold in Australia and is this 100% correct? All over again into the database lol DOH!!!!!

now that my cuke-curiosity has been aroused...

i checked LCF carb counter. Per 1/2 cuke raw (about 5 oz-but i do not know if that's 5 0z is weight or volume)the net grams is 2.9. I hope that is helpful. FF

Per *********:

Cucumber w/ peel: 1/2 cup = 1.89g carbs
Cucumber w/o peel: 1 cup = 2.87 g carbs

I like ********* to figure out carbs because it gives so many diff. options for each food item (i.e. with peel, w/o peel, pickled, etc.)

Thats right Zed, all australian carbs have already had their fibre deducted. Saves us from having to do the maths I guess.
