All of this is a lot to think about.
I am not losing now either.
I think it's the little extras I have added back since losing 100
I am very confused by all of this
juddd would let me eat what I wanted one day and cal. restric. the next.
I dont see it...

Marylouise, for me some foods are like alcohol or drugs. I just can't eat them anymore. They make me gain weight if I even think of them. If I do indulge it just sets up cravings - so if I want to lose, I can't eat those foods.

I have never tried JUDDD but some folks are quite successful with it and some folks use it to jump-start weight loss if they are stalled.

I don't know if you have an exersize program, but that jump-started me this last time.
Sometimes we need to figure out a way to break the unhealthy connection we have with food - that "hole" that we try to fill. It is an addiction, that for me is the hardest one to break, because I still have to eat. I want to be healthy in my old age - not weak and sickly and dependent on other people to take care of me. I want to enjoy every day, whatever happens, good or bad.

Just wanted to add my experience on stalls...

After about 3 months of slow regular weight loss, I stalled for a period of about 2 months. Initially, I tried all the standard stall breakers (I started before the 6 wk. period - more like 3 weeks). Nothing, nothing seemed to make a difference with the one possible exception of adding in coconut oil.

Weight loss resumed and made up for lost time and then some. Apart from the coconut oil addition, everything remained the same and I went on to lose another 30+lbs. And then ran into my virtual brick wall. Will let you all know how that one breaks when it does! The point is that sometimes we mess and fiddle (and it is hard not to do) only to find that weight loss probably would continue without any fiddling. I have proven this in the reverse in that I have messed and fiddled and no matter what I do, I remain the same weight within a couple of lbs. I have never been so 'weight consistent' in my whole adult life....

Be sure you are consuming the correct things (check for carb creep) and eat only to your hunger. And remember that there are things going on aside from actual weight loss that involved in healing. It didn't take a few months or a year to get to the state you are in and it is reasonable to think that it will take some time to turn it around and in the meantime, you are doing no further damage to your body.

Just wanted to give everyone an update! I went on a one week cruise, and took a break for the dieting world. Stayed lower carb the first few days, then didn't care anymore! Was out having fun eating the "local" food on the islands!

I left at 135.9 and came back 8 days later at 141.9 6 pound gain!!!

I have been back for 6 days and jumped RIGHT in to my WOE, lower carb and JUDDD. I am down to 138.9 today. And have no doubt in my mind that by the end of next week I will be back to my pre-cruise weight, and then back to looking for my next goal right after that!

Anyone else felt that JUDDD magic, please be sure to join in! I know a few have joined recently and are doing LC as well (but you don't have to!)

and GREAT THREAD!!

I could write a book on how LC stopped working for me and JUDDD became my savior!

I have become the poster child for this JUDDD WOE and have been on this plan for 7 months now. Read my signature and it will tell you MY experience with LC and JUDDD.

Also, read here: My Journey Through WW, South Beach, LC, VLC, and JUDDD (long story) It's a long read but I really feel it's worth it for anyone who is stalled or having problems LCing.

I always find it confusing how some say they could NEVER count calories yet they cut out whole food groups and need to re-arrange their WOE to do LC. To me LC was a LOT harder then counting calories ever has been. And even eating a low calorie day is a breeze compared to trying to figure out what I can and can not eat. Now I can eat anything that I want, within how I want to eat, lowest good carbs or not.

Some of us can do LC with no problems, but I found carbs are my friend. They keep me full for hours! A small bowl of oatmeal will keep me going for a good 4 to 5 hours, and I feel more energy when eating my good carbs then I ever did on LC. If I eat an egg, I'm starving 1 hour later! I had even written a thread about how fat/protein made me MORE hungry!

Anyway, I JUDDD and initially used it to stop gaining from VLC and to lose the 6 pounds I wanted to so I could get to goal. Well, 10 pounds past goal and I'm still JUDDDing and ALWAYS WILL! I will never go back to less than 80g carbs a day and have been as high as 200g in one day and still lost all my weight and have been maintaining now since Oct AT 10 POUNDS BELOW MY GOAL WEIGHT!!

This prompted me to go look at my carb levels over the last month. On DDs I'm always under 50 total (I was always under 20 on low carb). UDs, I have gone from 110 to 247. I haven't had a single UD under 110 and most are around 160-180.

From 2/7 - 3/7, I have lost exactly 11 lbs.

I started lc March last year and did great until August. Then I was stuck at the same weight until I started juddd on January 19 weighing 145. Today I weigh 129. I eat carbs again. I don't know that my mind or body would have done this well on juddd had I not lc'd first?? But lc wasn't working for me anymore. I'm loving juddd and can see doing it forever.

I know when I first started I did NOT want to give up LC! And you don't have to! I really think I FEEL better not eating all the white. I have started to add some carbs back in recently and only had a "mild" headache one day. I have been eating about 50 carbs on UD compared to what I used to eat 20-30. I have made room for some LC breads and tortillas that I used to stay away from even though they were low carb. My other carbs come from veggies and some fruit. I LOVE nectarines and cherries!- But never used to alot the carbs to have them!

I believe the real difference here is paying attention to my portion sizes! And not feeling like I can eat -essentially WAY more than I need to -just because it was still under 20 carbs a day!!

By the time I had put 2T of HWC cream in my coffee I was adding the calories!!

Now that I have been JUDDD'ing for over a month I have noticed that I am not focused on what I can't eat! IE on DD's I usually don't eat cheese because it is calories dense approx 100calories per ounce. Some do eat cheese- they fit it in. I just save it for an UD! I never thought I could "give up" cheese. Turns out I have given it up every other day without realizing it! And I don't miss it! If I do- I'll eat it tomorrow! Got some Dubliner Cheese in the fridge right now ready for Tomorrow!

I guess what I am saying is that you can LOW CARB and JUDDD. Or just JUDDD. Or IF and JUDDD... JUDDD really works with a LOT of other styles of eating. Paleo, Primal, the list goes on and on.

If you are stalling and looking to break a stall, give this a try for a week or 2 and you will FEEL the difference. And see it on the scale! Unlike Low carb you will not gain 3 pounds of water weight if you decide this is not for you! By the way- on maintenance a LOT of people up their DD calories to 700-1000 per day depending on height etc. And that number is WAY doable!!

Here are a couple of links that have helped me!

Low(ish) Carb DD Staples
Down Days recipes ONLY
DD Food Finds

DD Food Porn I started this one because I was missing Porn!!

hmm...was not familiar with JUDDD...but this is VERY interesting. i stay on LC bc of wheat allergy so i think even on UD I still wouldn't partake in wheat but i could see it being a more liberal way of maintaining... thanks for the thread! always like to learn about new (to me) ways of eating

I stay on low carb because I am a diabetic. How does JUDDD work with having that? I don't want my blood sugar to rise - I have a lot more at stake than just weight loss. Any diabetics here that do JUDDD?

Dr. Johnson, creator of JUDDD, recommends that people with eating disorders or diabetics not do JUDDD. For ED it could trigger binging behavior and the restricted calories every other day may not work for those with sugar problems.

Over on the JUDDD forum we do have some with both of this situations that still have done JUDDD and found it works well for them. Come over to the forum and search the word diabetes and you will find the thread/posts on the subject.

Thanks, Beeb. You're right, I don't think JUDDD is something I can do. I have to avoid the foods that raise my blood sugar. However, I will check out the forum just to educate myself. There may be tips and tricks I can adopt.
I have just stalled and have gained weight (not much - 10 pounds) and I SOOO want to find a way to start losing again!

I think it would really depend on where you are in the diabetes spectrum, and what medications you are on.

I'm Insulin Resistant, and pre-Diabetic. Eating moderate carb (aiming for fewer than 100/day, though most days are closer to 50), my post-prandial 2 hour numbers are fine (below 120). My fastings were almost always in the 110-120 range.

The morning after a Down Day on JUDDD are the only days my fasting is anywhere near normal. I've had some in the 90s and even one at 87.

But if you find you have issues with your blood glucose getting out of kilter if you miss meals, then JUDDD is probably not for you. I know that if my disease progresses to the point I need medicine, I may not be able to continue JUDDD. But I'm hoping that by that time, I'll have lost a lot of this extra weight.
