Appetite suppressants?

Hi friends,
I've been trying to lose this last 10lbs for over a year now! Atkins got me to almost my goal weight and I've maintained it through keeping low-carb...

But I'm wondering, maybe I just eat too much Or something. I don't know. I know many have said they had to start watching calories close to goal. Maybe that would help me? I don't count calories at all and only eat meat/veggies/some dairy. I'm in ketosis.

So - have any of you had any luck with any natural/safe ways to suppress your appetite? (besides drinking more water, and coffee - I already do that!)
I'm willing to give it a shot!

I have found that water w/ dandelion tea bag, lemon, and cucumber in it works awesomely.

ooooo - give me more ideas. I've looked at the supplements (for suppressing appetite) and they are NOT for me. I would like natural ways to feel full. I will try the tea thing.

I've had 10 lbs. to lose for a long time, also. Around the end of October, I began doing JUDDD along with low carb. I finally feel like I am in control of my eating. I have always wished for an appetite suppressant, too, but it's so much better to have the appetite suppression without having to take anything.

I'm so glad to be where I'm at and finally losing!

I would suggest you use fat as an appetite suppressant. It won't necessarily increase your calories, because you will feel more satisfied, less hungry, and probably take in fewer calories as a result. It will also keep your metabolism acting as a lean, mean, fat burning machine. Easy way to get more healthy fat (once you get over the "gross" factor) is to add a spoonful of coconut oil to coffee or tea.

If you use a commercial apetite suppressant, they almost all contain caffiene or a caffiene-like substance--not so great for your body. It can increase your heart rate and feelings of anxiety. Fat, on the other hand, is good for you (YES, it is!) and will not only help you get those last pounds off, it will help you keep them off.

Don't take my word for it. Dietdoctor Dr. Stephen Phinney was one of the authors of the later Atkins book. Watch his interview--eye opening!

If you're in ketosis and not losing, that means you're eating to maintenance and would have to lower calories (create a deficit) in order to lose.

You have to decide if you want to drop those 10 lbs enough to eat less because the way you are eating when you get to 'goal' is pretty much how you have to continue to eat to maintain that weight.

When you're small, so is the deficit to lose, so you only add a couple of hundred calories to maintain that weight.

Thanks everybody for your input. I have a lot to think about! I enjoyed watching Dr. Phinney's interview, as well as purusing Dietdoctor.

My motivation is high right now to find the solution, I'm back to ****** to monitor my intake. We'll see how it goes!

If you want a pill you might try Lipozene. It is supposed to be just fiber. You take it before your meal and drink a big glass of water. Then when you eat you eat less (in theroy) because the fiber filled you up. I took them when I first started low carb. I dont know if it really helpes me be full of it it was just that I thought it helped. I dont take them now.

Adding chia seeds to my food has upped fiber and protein. Using it is helping me.

Lipozine is glucomannan. There is a whole thread about that.

You probably don't want to hear this but maybe you have reached your body's ideal weight and don't need to loose any more?
I often wonder about how people go about deciding that a certain number is their goal? If you are healthy and your body is fit then what is it about that number that is so important?
Maybe if you still want to shape your body then try different types of exercise or weight work?
Good luck in what ever you decide to do

You might try the longlife cocktail from the fat flush plan. Im drinking it every morning, just started this week and it does help curb appetite. I take a 2 liter bottle and pour 3 20oz bottles of water in it and then add 1 cup sf cranberry juice, you are supposed to drink on this all day. Then first thing in the morning you take the longlife cocktail, which 1 heaping teaspoon of psyllium husk in a cup of the cranberry water. You have to shake it really good to get the psyllium to dissolve. It seems to help curb appetite and it helps in the poop department. The cranberry water flushes the body i think. Helps to flush the body. I have been doing it for almost a week.

Reduce your calories a bit and see if that helps. Are you doing any weight bearing exercise?

Anything with konjac or glucomanan can help you Brandiee. There's a product I recommend for those trying to reduce calories and want to fill that "void". It's called PGX. It might be helpful for you.
