I haven't bought any CO for that very reason. I don't like coconut. I believe some types/brand do and some do not taste like coconut, but I don't have first hand experience.
I do use palm oil which doesn't have a taste. It is another MCT fat that is supposed to be good for you, but not quite as good as coconut oil. When the palm oil is gone, I hope to find a non-coconut tasting CO.

I used to think that I didn't like coconut. It turned out that I don't like fake coconut.

I buy extra virgin unrefined coconut oil and it tastes like coconut.

Spectrum coconut oil does not taste of coconut although it gives off a very subtle coconut aroma when you cook with it.

I got the refined stuff at WalMart (LousAnn, I think), and it is absolutely flavorless and odorless. I love it. I have heard if you get the unrefined, cold pressed CO, it retains the coconut flavor. So there's an oil for you whichever you prefer. Enjoy!

just buy the refined kind, it will have no flavor or aroma. If you get the UNrefined kind it will taste like coconut. I have both... one for foods that I don't want to have that coconut flavor and then one that does for coconut bark and just to eat straight off the spoon.

The refined coconut oil isn't nearly as healthy as unrefined. You'd probably be just as well off using vegetable oil for cooking. I do understand not wanting the coconut flavor however.

Well the refined kind has the same properties that the unrefined kind has (keeps you full, boosts metabolism and promotes weightloss) which is why I use it. Even if it's truly not as healthy as the unrefined kind then I'd still prefer to use it over canola or vegetable oil which do none of those.

Doesn't have to. I buy the virgin coconut oil that taste like coconut oil for me. I take that by the spoon when I need to get some oil in me. To me, it doesn't taste horrid. I buy expeller pressed for my baking and cooking. That way my family has no idea that they are getting something healthy in them They absolutely hate coconut anything and even if I tell them that a certain dish was made with coconut oil they will give me the ol' "ugh why did you tell us that? now we don't want it!!". Give me a break, there is no taste of coconut in any dish I cook for them

I tried baking brownies one time---ONCE only--- and used the virgin coconut oil instead of butter. Never making that mistake ever again had to throw away the entire pan of brownies and I never throw away food. The taste of coconuts was overwhelming. No one would eat them.

I really should start looking for coconut oil here, either in Germany or Holland. I don't think I've ever seen it in a supermarket before.

It really all depends on what you fry in it. If a sweet, tropical flavor makes sense, then frying in co is great (hint, it adds a great flavor to firm, white fish, and chicken). I do that a lot. On the other hand, I find I can't deal with coconut-flavored fried eggs. It really will depend on your idea of what tastes 'right'.
