So I asked Trader Joe's about Coconut stuff

Specifically, I asked if they were considering carrying coconut oil, coconut flour, unsweetened coconut flakes, and real coconut milk (not the low fat stuff), and this was the reply:

Quote:
Thank you for your feedback. We are always bringing in new products to our stores and we will be introducing Coconut Oil within the next week into our stores.

We currently do not have any plans to bring in whole canned coconut milk or coconut flour, and due to slow sales discontinued offering unsweetened coconut flakes. However, I have shared your comments and suggestions with our Product Steering Committee for future consideration.

Thanks for shopping at Trader Joe's,
Amy

Whoo Hoo!!! Let's hope that they have a good price for the coconut oil and it's good quality.

More and more local grocery stores are carrying it (even Safeway!) but the price is so high!!!

So who will be the first to spot it???

I just saw the coconut oil when I was there earlier today!! It was $5.99 for 16 ounces (I think...I'm about 90% sure of this but didn't take a picture or write it down or anything and didn't buy any because I just reordered Nutivia CO from Netrition). It was organic and unrefined. I didn't check it out any more thoroughly than that since I wasn't buying any, but I was happy to see it there! It was on the "New Products" display shelf and there were only about 4 jars left...so that might be a good sign that it is a product that people will buy! I hope so!

Walmart now has Spectrum CO for under $6. That's where I've been getting mine. Anywhere else I pay around $10.

I had to go to two TJs to find it, but I did! The first store was already sold out, the second store had only about 20 jars, I bought 3. Hopefully by the time I get through these the stock will be more reliable.

The clerk told me that the price will normally be about $7 or $8, this is just an intro price, but that's still pretty good, as I've been paying $10 to $12 for 12 oz jars, and these jars are 16 oz.

They were talking about our area getting a Trader Joe's and opted to pick some other department store that I've never heard of. Total bummer!

I’m really surprised that TJ’s doesn’t carry it. You can get it at the Kroger, Walmart and Publix here. I don’t like the prices at the stores here for the spectrum.

I buy big 54oz. tubs of Nutiva online for $20-$25. They make great gifts for the Coconut Oil lovers in your family.

So what are the benefits of Coconut oil? I've heard it keeps you fuller longer... does it help with losing weight too? Should I be cooking/frying all my food with it? I'm curious to learn more about it... I've heard so many people speak highly of it.
