Aw I am flattered that you remember me.

Well, I certainly have some metabolic challenges. I ended up getting weight loss surgery... a vertical sleeve gastrectomy. I am one who needs EVERY weight loss tool available. Low carb, portion control, low calorie, other medical help, and plenty of exercise. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. Thank god for Dr. Atkins and for modern medicine... too bad modern doctors aren't all "in-the-know" lol

OMG!!!
I had to bump this back up.
I can't tell you how much I needed to read your story today. It's rational and I LOVE what you said about not being obsessive. It's the key that I hope will finally get me where I want to be too.

Your story is amazing. You are a great inspiration!

congratulations! How wonderful! I was wondering...I noticed you indicate in your stats that you were on again and off again...what made it 'click' in your head that it was time to hit goal

Well done!

Mia.
I will! But most likely not until I'm at goal & have been maintaining for a while.

So, this might be a great time to start toning your muscles for the day when you can have your skin removal surgery. If you're "under weight" (when they subtract for excess skin), they may refuse to do the surgery.

Just a thought.
I hear ya on the bouncing up & down. I'm glad you caught it before doing the damage that I did.
I have thought that the excess skin I have may well weigh the 15 lbs I still want to lose. Unfortunately we had to replace our entire HVAC system in August and now I need a new car, so there goes my surgery $$. (Insurance would only cover skin removal surgery if I had had WLS ) So it may be another year or so before I can have the surgery anyway. But great idea having it checked out and concentrating more on toning up and building muscle vs weight loss.

My endo told me to lose weight. At 350 lbs I never went to the doctor so had never had a doctor tell me to lose weight. Even when I was going through fertility procedures at 195ish I was told to maintain. This doctor has no idea that I was ever any bigger than the 185-190 range and at my last visit on Good Friday he told me my weight was too high. I decided that at my next appointment (which happens to be next Friday), I would have lost a bunch. Plus I had just gotten a huge promotion at work so was in a confident, I can do anything place.

I will, but doubt he will say anything. He has a huge practice and I don't feel he remembers me from appointment to appointment, plus my big toe has a better bedside manner that he does!

It was a good visit! The doctor was very impressed with my weight loss & was able to lower the strength of my thyroid meds because of it. He said that I should only lose 5 more pounds since I suffer from anxiety & depression and he said weight loss can make it worse (actual clinical depression, not I'm depressed because I'm fat depression) I wanted to lose about 13 more so maybe I'll split the difference & make it 7. Still high for my height of 5'2", but I'm a weirdo who would rather feel good than look good

Wow, Jennifer, just wow!!!!! I so needed to read this today. Thanks for sharing your story and for being so honest and realistic about it. Congrats to you. I don't know if it is something that might help...but fish oil in high doses has really helped with my depression and I can always tell a difference when I don't take it. I don't like the pills so I take coromega packets...6 to 8 a day which is about 6 to 8000 mgs. Thanks again for posting!!!!
