Egg creme Kaboom
I had just cracked two eggs into the blender to whip up an egg creme when the power went out. After calling the power company and discovering that a substation had gone down, I decided to whip up my egg creme by hand using a shaker.
All went well (added cream, transferred eggs from blender, added Davinci's and, feeling frisky, a few drops of Capella flavor drops -- shake, shake, shake) until I added the coffee, which was still warm from the coffee pot (I didn't use cold coffee because I didn't want to open the fridge due to the power outage). Shake, shake, KABOOM. The heat from the coffee blew the lid off the shaker and most of my egg creme -- in a fine and very effective spray pattern -- ended up on my kitchen walls, floor, table, coffee pot, microwave, on my glasses, on the cat, etc., . ![]() Fortunately, I had JUST taken a batch of Linda Sue's Stuffing Pie out of the oven (really, just moments before the outage. Good thing since my oven is electric). And miraculously, NONE of the egg cream had landed on the pie. It was like a protective force field of goodness had protected it during this thermal disaster. That pie is MAGIC, I tell you Last edited by Sissiesue; 09-17-2011 at 04:16 PM.. Reason: Fixed typos -- crEAM, not creme. My brain is addled today. |

![]() Oh -- and the stuffing pie is really tasty! Here's the link. I used all pork (ground pork + pork sausage) given the latest turkey recalls. |

It is, but you wouldn't know it! There's a bunch of treads in the recipes section about them. You should check those out for more details. My basic recipe is this:
In a blender, add: 2 eggs (raw) 2 TBS heavy cream A few pumps of Davinci's (or equivalent) flavoring 1/2 cup cold coffee Two ice cubes (I used frozen coffee cubes) Blend and enjoy! It tastes like really good iced coffee -- super creamy. |

So sorry for your unfortunate cooking accident. Just the other day when I was making my protein powder almond milk ice cream in the blender the little plastic top came loose and promptly fell in while the blender was on, needless to say my ice cream was ruined.

Hey, I've been meaning to ask you: do you have a preferred ice cream recipe? I've seen you mention several times that you make your own. I've got my ice cream freezer bowl chilling, and I just need a good low-carb recipe to use! |

I'm primarily dairy free now so this is what I do
I throw 2 cups of sf almond milk with 2 scoops of protein powder, 4 pasteurized eggs, vanilla, a 1/3 cup equivalent sugar sub I use a mixture of xylitol, stevia and liquid sucralose in a blender if I use chocolate protein powder I add a couple of tablespoons of special dark cocoa powder, chill and then churn in an ice cream maker It makes 4 giant servings, for me anyway. The pie is very tasty. My DH calls it "breakfast bake" (he doesn't think it tastes like stuffing, but then he's from the south, where they have cornbread stuffing. To me, it tastes like a stove-top like stuffing . . . but better).
