Got 5th week in now and feeling great. Usually one of the most stressful times of the year for me, but remaining calm. Sleeping well most nights. ....and...though I know the plan isn't aimed for weight loss...down to 151.4 today. May make it back to my low of last year before the hormones and thyroid started showing symptoms...one major one was the sudden unexplained weight creep up. There is something to this! ...and I like it! Not hungry between meals and not really hungry before now. I eat for fuel....not just to eat. Snack urge is at bay now too! I used to be a grazer.

My BAB most days has become ground beef....hamburger patties or crumbled. Beef is high in protein. Found two and a half patties or one and a half cups loose ground beef makes a great BAB for me. I cook it ahead and just reheat in micro with some coconut oil for good measure. Add some CO tomy morning coffee too. Steak was yummy, but GB is cheaper and easier to chomp down every day. Mix in a steak once in a while.

Will be getting the liver pills for those times I need the protein and don't or can't do all the food.

I am. For CT, my bath temp is about 72 degrees. My body just won't allow me to go much colder than that. The coldest I have done is 68. Should still work, just take longer. I do ice packs for an hour or 2 almost every night after dinner. Ice I enjoy, cold water I hate.

This week I went back to being very strict on the bab. My weight loss had slowed down in the last couple of months, so I wanted to try to get it back up to 2 - 2 1/2 lbs a week. Right now I am the lowest I have been in 7 years and still moving downward. Hoping to reach goal by end of summer (at latest).

Planning on retesting (labs) in about 2 weeks. I need to see if things are improving or not. I had a week of great energy and attitude and as suddenly as it started, it went away.

Just a general comment in response to some of the previous posts. When you are leptin resistant, your brain doesn't know when you are full. So when you use sunlight in the morning and eat the bab shortly after getting up, you are using the vagal nerve to communicate with the brain, not leptin. That's partially why if you eat too late or not enough, your circadian rhythm is off and you can't sleep. The 50 g is just what Dr Kruse has found in his practice is the average minimum it takes. Some people may only need 35 g and some may need 80 g. If you only eat 35 g and your brain gets the full signal, and you start finding you can skip lunch, 35 g is enough for you. If that's not the case, you need to keep increasing protein until your brain recognizes full. I find that 45 g of bacon and eggs works for me. Anything less than that results in getting hungry.

In my prior post, that should have said vagus nerve instead of vagal.

I put LR to the side lines for now, but do want to explore it. My yoga is taking up my time and focus right now. I have so MANY things I want to read about and try - I just have to focus on one or two things for a while. My reading list is huge! But I am still interested in Leptin Reset.

Hi Sandy and Kitty and Rich..........

This is very interesting. I seen once if you get down in as cold as you can stand water it will speed your metabolism up. Is this what yall are talking about. I have hear of LR. Never checked into it though. Maybe I should.....

I have dropped almost 2 pounds this week. I have only ate a few bites of meat. I just have not been hungry....Been putting CO and HWC in coffee double time this week. I have been wondering if this is why I am not hungry.........I keep my fat intake as high as I can without getting sick to my stomach...

I think most people know that cold causes you to burn more calories - your body has to work harder to keep your temperature up. So that's one reason.

Dr Kruse believes that there is an ancient pathway in our brains that is used when a person becomes cold adapted. He mentions Lance Armstrong (cyclist) and Michael Phelps (swimmer) as examples of people who use cold to train and have achieved amazing success. Being cold adapted helps to normalize hormones and speeds up weight loss. Much of this is based on studies done by NASA and the Russians.

Rich you have a beautiful smile.

I love being cold. I can walk out side in the snow barefooted. Did it all my life.
Do you put ice packs on different parts of your body? I really was wondering about that. I haven't but I am going to do the bathtub cold water thing.
Does the one's you mention use ice packs or do they do the bath cold water?

Contemplating trying this, but I'm not sure how cold I can take it! Probably a symptom of how messed up my system is...I find I get cold easier and easier. Love high temps when everyone else is complaining. Hate AC. Probably could do water in low 70s, 60s if in pool moving. Wonder how that would work? Unheated pool time....at least till it warms up naturally.

I'd say the high fat is keeping you feeling full Mary Louise. I too need to get back to a tighter LR plan. I find I don't want to snack now, don't have the cravings, I rarely even feel hunger between the meals. I still try to do the 50g BAB. Started with a steak, have gone to hamburger patties. I just can't eat enough eggs to hit my protein target. Have found I can eat my red meat breakfast and lesser protein dense foods for other meals. I found the losses stopped too. Blamed it on too much protein. Had to cut down later in the day to keep from gaining.

Hi Kitty, I am like that too. I am the only one that can getting the pool early. I love cold. Not like to be too how. I like to keep temp. around 69 68 inside.

This subject is very interesting to me.....

You may be right about the fat. I have changed something about that. I no longer eat animal fat. Too many toxins in it. I upped my Co I also added Krill. My Lipids need it I think. I am going to keep my fat intake high just gona do it a different way. I ate finally at 8p. I had pork neck bones. As good as they are and as much as they help me lose weight. I am going to stop eating them. Too much fat. I did cut back on HWC but went back to as much as I want. Those 2 pounds I am showing to be shed of so far this week, is with the no limit HWC...

Anyone still doing leptin reset? I came across this thread yesterday, read all 7 pages and today decided to give a shot. Since I always am hungry in the morning, I thought this will be easy to follow plan. I am trying to control occasional carb binging that is preventing me from losing the last 5-10 lbs.

So today I had 1/2 lb baked wild salmon for breakfast, egg salad for lunch and I am FULL. I don't think I will eat much for dinner, maybe just a salad. I fell great so far. I can't believe that 50 gr protein breakfast really made a difference, but it DID!!!

I wonder if it is worth getting the book "Mastering Leptin" or just Dr Kruse website is enough. I see there is a lot of information there and also on mark daily apple.

Rich- Do you mind tell me how much weight have you lost on LR. Also, once you are leptin sensitive, do you stay on the diet or you modify somehow.

Are nuts allowed? I don't see them mentioned.

I am trying leptin reset to control hormonal binge eating and hope to get to my goal weight as well.

Thank you in advance for answering.

I started at 305 and now I am 235, so 70 lbs. I have serious hormonal problems so I don't think I am completely leptin sensitive yet, so I continue to eat the BAB (big breakfast). Most nuts are not allowed, but brazil nuts are recommended for selenium.

I have failed at low carb probably 50 times because of overwhelming cravings. The Big Protein Breakfast stopped them cold, except for 1 time. I had been on antibiotics for 30 days and on the 30th day, ate a half gallon of ice cream. Since stopping the antibiotics and getting my stomach healthy again, no cravings.

While most of the people that started the leptin reset (Jack Kruse style) did it to lose weight, the emphasis has changed to becoming optimally healthy. Jack has developed what he is calling the epi-paleo Rx. Lots of shellfish, crustaceans, and fish to make healthy brains.

Many people are having major health improvements following the plan, so I think it will become a way of life for many of us. I mean, what could be better than eating shrimp, lobster, clams, oysters, salmon, cod, and scallops bathed in butter and garlic unless it is a big, juicy steak.

I would characterize Jack's approach in 2 ways. First is he looks at the cellular level to see what makes for a healthy cell. Then he tells us what foods/nutrients are recommended. It is up to us to get lab tests to see how well our bodies are working. Then he researched what foods led to the development of our super brains and recommends certain foods for making our brains optimal. So once people start becoming optimal, why would they ever want to stop eating this way?

I do have one warning though. Once you start reading through all the information on his blog and in the forum, you will more than likely become addicted.

Rich- thank you so much for sharing yout story! I am following it for the past 3 days and I am feeling great. Love the BAB!!! I always loved eating meat in the morning. I usually eat 25 gr of protein between eggs and meat. So now I have no issues eating 50 gr of protein, even though some may say that that's a lot in one seating. It seems like my breakfast now became dinner, lunch is breakfast and dinner is light lunch Love it.
His blogs are very informative. Actually too technical for me to understand everything but the comments below are very helpful. My head is spinning from reading so much on his website and mark's daily apple forum.
