Tomato and onion on Atkins Induction

Im re-inducting. Ive used a bit of onion and tomato in my menus.
I make a killer pico sauce that I use on chicken and even in my tuna!

Do you think on INDUCTION its best to wait until after the first two weeks to use any onion and tomato?

Thanks for your input.

Last time I did Atkins I got to my goal weight and still used these 2 veggies, but now that Im older and more menopausal ...well...Im wondering if I need to be even more strict.

Onion no. Tomatoes, probably. BUT if you can handle them with no problems then run with it

Onions and tomatoes are on the list of acceptable veggies in Induction-just count your carbs.

This! I use a food scale because it is more accurate. Welcome back Michelle.

what lisabinil said....

watch the portions is all. Scallions and leaks, I believe, are less carby than onions. But do not trust my memory. check a carb counter to be sure. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

I started induction last week. I use the acceptable foods list on the Atkins website. Tomato and onion are both on the list. My garden tomatoes are so lovely and delicious that I can't seem to keep them out of my mouth! I just make sure I measure and count those carbs to make sure they fit into that day's allowance.

Yep I use them, though the tomatoes I weigh for accurate carb count, and I don't with many other things. I discovered that cutting the tomato up small helps make it go further in a salad. Also, I use scallons with nearly everything because the lower carb count.

I didn't use either of them at induction . I did however try onions at a later time and boy did it set off cravings !! I didn't use any sweet onions after that. I started using the little garden type and it never caused any cravings .The tomatoes I don't have a problem with tho .I just went by the book and the allowable foods listed for induction .
