Stats: I need to lose 20 kg to conceive
WOE: Low carb & lifting weights
Start Date: 25 June 2012
Warning to other 2nd timers

I did Atkins, by the book, very successfully 2 years ago.

Carb creep + overconfidence = regained it all.

Attempt 2 : I've been kinda, sorta, in a way doing Induction for the past 2 weeks. I have not lost ANYTHING! I'm eating things that are not on the Induction food list, and I'm not listening to my hunger, but still allowing myself to eat for emotional/pleasure reasons.

So, lesson learned : If you're not doing it, you're not doing it!

From now on, 2 questions before I put food in my mouth:
1. Is it on the Induction food list?
2. Am I physically hungry?

So mad at myself for wasting these past 2 weeks

I was very successful with LC about four years ago. I lost 90 pounds in the span of about six months. Of course I quit and regained but when I restarted last year, I was very dissapointed at first because it was going much slower than before. It took me the same amount of time as before to lose 50 pounds.

It's been over a year and I'm happy where I am at, but there were tough times when I wanted to give up thinking that LC just wasn't working for me as well as before. I stuck with it though and I'm glad I did.

Be strong and keep working, it will happen for you, just give it a little extra time. You, like me, are older than you were the last time and age effects weight loss.

I am happy to read this. Back between 2002 and 2004 I was very faithful to Atkins and lost 120 pounds. I have tried to re-start several times but got discouraged with the slow progress, so I went to calorie counting......well I lost a whopping 6 pounds since May. I woke up this morning decided to go back to what I know works which has to be better than 6 pounds in 4 months. I am determined to make it work for me again this time and stick to it regardless of the pace.

I had a fantastic loss in 2004... I re-gained 30 lbs

This morning was not good, but as of noon today I have recommited myself (yes, again) this time I have the book out again .

So I am going to ask myself the same questions the op asks

From now on, 2 questions before I put food in my mouth:
1. Is it on the Induction food list?
2. Am I physically hungry?

I didn't do Atkins the first time, I lost using my own method of LC. But, I can still use the same two rules, only modified for me this time. Maybe this can just be a restart thread regardless of what LC method/plan was used before and what is used this time.

On my second time around, I've been a lot smarter and more realistic in my attitude, I think. I got into it to improve my overall health and lengthen my life. The weight loss is awesome, but it's not the main focus anymore.

The attitude shift has made all the difference for me; it really cuts down on unnecessary worry and anxiety.

Thanks everyone. Seth, you are such an inspiration! I know the loss will be slower this time, but to be honest, just the fact that low carbing makes me binge less is already worth it! The resultant binges when I don't eat low carb are really soul destroying for me.

Another thing for me on this time around..

No frankenfoods.... for my sugar addiction. A sweet is a sweet and I WILL overindulge leading other indulgence. So I will be making those just for a special ocassion , so I will not feel deprived.
SF jello never bothered my sweet addiction, so I do have a pkg of 4 on hand w HWC. I love nuts and berries so those are my "fixes".

Exactly!!!!! I'm in the same boat. I need this plan for energy, lower b.p and better numbers. Im a student and Insulin Resistant so I need to eat this way so I can have a clear mind and be able to study and retain things.
If the weight loss is slow, so be it!!!

I've been away for quite awhile. Gained some weight back after losing 95, but I knew I would the way I was eating. Back to a sensible lifestyle now and very happy about it. I don't dwell on past indiscretions. It's useless.

Glad you are back! Good questions to ask yourself.

I too did atkins many times. The first was the best, regained and then some....Would do it again and again, losing 20 or so each time and regaining...repeating over and over....For some reason...I stuck with it this time...

It has to be a way of life...a true WOE to work. The other times it was just a diet.
