Diets of the past....
Most of remember the "Low-Fat 1990s".
The eighties seemed to focus on popping pills and liquid protein diets. One thing I remember from the 1960s was the restaurant "diet plate". It consisted of, usually, a grilled hamburger patty sans bun, a scoop of cottage cheese, and either some tomato slices or a canned peach half. Hmmm, if you got it without the peach half, it would have been a pretty decent low carb meal. Anyone remember any "blast from the past" diets? |

The ones I remember trying were popular in the 80's and early 90's - these are the diets that propelled my bulemia, and wrecked my gut and metabolism:
10 lbs. in 3 days diet - hot dogs, 1 c. ice cream at night, beets, greenbeans, saltines. I remember the paper said physicians used it to get weight off of heart patients quickly, before surgery. The infamous cabbage soup diet. I still can't stomach crack slaw because of how much I hated the cabbage in this diet, lol! I'll keep trying though- it smells so good.In the early 90's my friend and I did the rice diet...1 pc. fruit for bk, 1 c. rice and 2 fruits for lunch and dinner. There was actually a chapter called "The getting of chicken" - it was quite a few weeks into the diet before you got protein... ![]() Edit: I also did the hospital hosted fasting thing that Oprah did...I needed to lose a whopping 9 lbs...that one really helped with the eating disorder...NOT!

I tried a lot of weird diets and none of them worked. It was only when I started taking Dexatrim back in the early '90's did I really lose weight because it suppressed my appetite in a big (unhealthy) way.
