On track, feeling good
I've been off and on and off and on and off and on too many times that I can count, but I've been on track for a few days and hoping to keep it up for the long haul. A little backstory, I started this woe in 2003, lost 40 lbs, got preggo ( which was my goal, PCOS) and then after the preg, lost the 40 and ended up with a surprise pregnancy. Had her, lost even more, then dh got out of the military, money got tight, I started drinking more than before so the lc way wouldn't stick no matter how many attempts I made. I FINALLY figured out I can't stick to it cause of the beer!!! None for 3 days, def in ketosis and gonna stick with it. Also I started taking Maca, and it has helped sooooo much!

I just started low carbing again 3 weeks ago. Last night, while looking for online weight charting apps, I signed into ****** for the first time in over 2 years. Noticed that my weight 2 years ago was 11 pounds MORE than my new LC starting weight. I assure you, I was not dieting or eating right. I attribute those 11 pounds simply to not drinking beer. I don't recommend it without thoroughly researching everything about it both pro and con, but I tried switching from beer to kava and found I vastly prefer drinking kava to beer or any alcohol. In fact, I didn't so much quit drinking as I prefer kava (you can't drink both together). kava is a plant root that is sort of brewed as a tea that Hawaiians, Fijians, Samoans, and other Pacific Islanders have been drinking for thousands of years. It's like the opposite of coffee. A very relaxing feeling that doesn't make you drunk but reduces anxiety and increases relaxation. Kava got a bad rap a few years back when unscrupulous nutritional supplement manufacturers starting mass producing "kava pills" and in their greed started using ALL of the plant (not just the root that Pacific Islanders only use) and people in Germany complained of liver pain. (Turns out the people who complained had a history of excessive drinking for years). Anyway, I love kava, brew my own kava drink using traditional methods (I'd never touch the pills), and would vastly prefer a kava drink (2 net carbs) to a beer any day (and I'm Irish and love beer). Kava Products from Nakamal at Home - The Kava Drink | Traditional Form of Kava Consumption You're mileage may vary, but if you would like to kick alcohol to the curb, you may want to have a look at it. |
