Just as any FYI regarding Outback Steakhouse, they have a nutritional page that allows you to review an entire meal. Here's the link: Nutrition Information - Outback Steakhouse

Obviously, I cannot vouch for their accuracy, but I checked the meal that I have eaten there in the past, the Outback 9 oz special steak, caesar side salad and the steamed broccoli and the total carbs (if subtracting the dietary fiber) is only 15.

^^^This is the one thing I genuinely miss since beginning this WOE. Their broccoli cheese soup is so good.

I'd go with Chinese. Used to a be a semi-regular chinese restaurant frequenter. Haven't had anything remotely Chinese since beginning LC.

You can make a lower carb broccoli cheese soup. Just use cream, butter and cheese, some black pepper and broccoli. You can also add some chicken or bacon to it too.

You're Welcome! It sounds good to me too now.... LOL
It cooled down today in the 60's and I went for a ride on my harley and it was even colder in the wind. I didn't have the wind liner inside my jacket, just a hoodie. It was fun though so I didn't mind the brisk air. But it kinda makes me want soup now.

I made a meaty chili last night, just a small batch and used very little amount of pinto beans (about 1.25 cups cooked) with about 4 cups of cooked hamburger meat, some bell pepper, onion, black pepper, chili powder, a little LC ketchup and some taco seasoning on the meat. I was out of fresh tomatoes and didn't want to use tomato sauce.

Last week for a lunch meeting at work my company had panera bread cater us box lunches (half sandwhich, half salad, chips & cookie)... Since my work friend did the ordering she ordered me a special box lunch which was a big delicious greek salad with grilled chicken & they replaced the cookies/chips with an apple.

I never thought i could eat at a place called "panera bread" but i was proven wrong :P

There's also salad, chicken curry, really good chicken soup ( just chicken, veggies, and broth), even coconut veggie soup. You could eat the lamb vindaloo, just steer clear of any potatoes, or shrimp vindaloo.
I go to a place that serves Indian and Napalese food. They often have goat curry that is to die for. (And garlic naan!:blush My mom also eats low carb and has different tastes. She likes the sauteed eggplant, broccoli w/garlic, and depending on how many carbs she can afford - veggie pakora (veggies battered in chickpea flour and fried).

If you're ever in doubt, just eat the meat dishes - most Indian buffets have at least two choices, tandoori chicken and curry chicken, at the minimum. If you can spare a few carbs then have some of the veggie dishes or a salad.

Hope that helps!
I had given up my beloved indian food because i thought for sure there was nothing i could eat at the Indian buffet i used to go to. Thanks for your post! Im definitely going to go in some time this next week and grub on some chicken masala & the other low carb options. Its going to be hard to resist the naan & the dessert options (rice pudding, mushy carrot stuff, and squishy dough balls soaked in some kind of sauce) Sorry i dont know the names rofl

Me and my friends love going for an Indian. We don't do it often, but it's one of those dinner invitations I can't pass up

I generally stick to Tandoori king prawns, chicken tikka/lamb tikka and some spinach.

I have to avoid Chinese restaurants though. I'm sure there would be alternatives to what I used to eat in there, but I'd just be longingly looking at what everybody else is eating. Not worth the depression.

I work at the all time worst LC restaurant EVER! P.F. Changs! Save yourself the time and don't go. Literally everything is soaked in, cooked with, or topped with sugar or starch! Awful awfulness! It's a shame because we have such spectacularly fresh, high quality ingredients. We just turn it into garbage, lol. Luckily the chefs will always make me something healthy and low carb..the job has benefits :-)

Honestly, if I'm going out and paying restaurant prices, and I'm not going to have an enjoyable meal, I'd rather eat some cheese/nuts on the way there or after, and just have a glass of wine or coffee and a side salad. Hopefully people won't be too weirded out by that.

I'd rather pay six bucks for a nice glass of wine that is an actual treat, than ten bucks or more for something I can only eat a small part of.

But that's just for places where there's not much LC on offer. I imagine I'd have a hard time in Chinese restaurants...

Asian places in general.

The sauces are going to be really carby, there will be rice/noodles, and it's just a bad idea. Plus, I hate to make sweeping generalizations, but I find that a lot of Asian places will nod and agree when you tell them to make some change to your meal, or ask a question, and then they'll just go right ahead and make it normally anyway.

I was a Thai place with a friend who is allergic to peanuts (seems like a bad idea from the start) and she explained it and the waiter said it was no problem, and on the side of her plate was a carrot salad swimming in peanut sauce.

I despise cilantro and always ask for it to be held. Often times it will still be there - like when I was at a Vietnamese place and the dish came COVERED in cilantro. I said to the waiter "I asked for no cilantro" and he said "right, but you can pick it off." Ermmmm you could have just as easily not put it on.

I love Asian food but on a strict diet I'd never eat it unless I make it myself.

Delicious Broccoli Cheese Soup!!!

Here is a REALLY yummy recipe. Figured it out at ****** and it has 6 carbs per cup and most are from the broccoli. It is really thick and creamy.

OUTBACK is a huge fav. of mine. Not sure why this place would be high-carb. I get the sirloin, with a side salad, no croutons, and grilled veggies. It's saved me many a night....while on this WOE!!! I stay away from past places like Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill. As well as Chinese...although I can find something lower carb as opposed to lowcarb at Chinese...only a last resort though!
