I've tried them (netrition carries them ) but I had some issues with them because of the whole seeds. They don't really break down lol.

Wow, I just looked at the ingredient list and the carb/fiber count! The ingredients are great, wholesome and these crackers look AMAZING!!! I clicked on one (didn't notice the flavor  and it was 3 crackers for 8 carbs and 7 fiber! That's 1 carb for 3 crackers!! Just checked out their site and they are selling them in the next town over from me!!

How big are these crackers, BTW?

Dazzlemebree--maybe you just got overexcited & don't usually do this, but you should be subtracting fiber from carbs, not protein from carbs

Thanks for sharing your find!

RE: Carbs vs protein

Actually...my nutritionist well dietitionist is the one who told me this....she said for every gram of protein cancels out 1 gram of carbohydrate

Pretty decent size...perfect for a slice of cheese or to break into bits for dipping

Hmmmm, I've never heard that!

You can usually (with US packaging, anyway) subtract the fiber from the carb count because fiber is indigestible and shouldn't affect blood sugar.

Eating protein might slow down the blood sugar rise for some people, but I can't imagine how it would "cancel" out the carbs. It certainly doesn't cancel out the calories!

I don't mean to be argumentative but I think you might want to double-check with your nutritionist. Maybe she misspoke? Or she meant that you should have protein with your carbs?

oohhh! no no we're talking about two different things here! lol you're talking about net carbs right?

I dont go by net carbs because i don't have problems with my blood surgar. What she told me was that once you subtract the protein and carb that it give that much more of a leverage in your carb count. So that in a way it does cancel out the carb. lol i know it doesnt for the calories.

I've never heard that and (honestly) it doesn't make sense to me at all because excess protein can cause the same reaction as carbs (Gluconeogenesis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). I can't see how protein can cancel carbs? Maybe she meant fiber and misspoke and said protein?

Beeb: a little smaller than a wasa cracker and thinner.

Well, I just thought maybe your nutritionist was trying to explain net carbs and misspoke. It's still a form of "net carbs" if you're subtracting something from the total carbs...just not what most of us on here would consider net carbs.

What she's telling you to do doesn't make any kind of LC sense; even if you don't have trouble with blood sugar, this "plan" doesn't sound ketosis-friendly.

BUT...if you post information about a food (packaged or a recipe), I haven't come across anyone else on this forum using your nutritionist's math, so it might be confusing and misleading. For example, if the crackers had 10g protein, 10g carb, and 0 fiber, would you count that as 0 carbs? I would count it as 10.

Anyway, sorry for going off-topic...I hope your plan is working for you!!!

FWIW, in this case it doesn't matter because it's the same. The package says 7 grams of fiber.

So, If they are 8 grams carbs-7 grams fiber=1 net carb

I have never heard of subtracting protein from the carb count and this is an important point for those that are trying to do a low carb woe. Subtracting fibre does makes sense because it passes through the body unchanged and is illuminated.

Yep but that's in a 3 cracker serving.
Original post says 3g carb for 3 crackers.
The way "we" figure it, it's actually only 1g carb for 3 crackers.

I have been eating these for over a year and love them. They're great with cream cheese on them, sliced cheese, any kind of dips. And at 1 net carb per 3 crackers it just makes a great snack cracker. First cracker I've found with low carbs and good nutrition. I get them at my whole foods market.

Well, my enthusiasm over this cracker has just gone down quite a bit. I just called the place that sells them and he told me they are $4.99 a box!!

$3.99 I might have paid for these, but not $4.99.

I'll just continue to make my own!

BTW, looking at the ingredients I can't see why we can't come up with our own version of these. It says it's a RAW product which means it's made in a dehydrator or something like this, but I'm almost sure it's something that could be baked or microwaved.

Ingredients are: Organic golden flax seeds, organic brown flax seeds, organic apple cider vinegar, vegetable protein from soybeans and purified water, organic dill, organic red chili peppers. (this if for the Dill one. Vegetable protein is TVP just TVP and if this is soaked in water it causes a binding agent, thus the reason it is used to extend meats and make meatloaf. Got my thinking cab on now!!

I just found Foods Alive Italian Zest Crackers they would be easy to make I think
100% Organic Ingredients: Golden Flaxseed*, Tomato*, Italian Seasoning*, (Onion*, Celtic Sea Salt, Garlic*, Parsley*, Basil*, Marjoram*, Oregano*, Rosemary*, Thyme*, Sage*) *Organic Ingredient

10g carbs
9g Fiber
so 1 carb per 5 crackers
They are on sale so I'm ordering some but I dont think they'd be hard to make.

Looking at the box with 7 grams of fiber and 8 of carb doesn't that leave one carb?
