According to the Atkins online carb counter, a haas avocado has 9.9 total carbs with 7.8 fiber to come to a total of 2.1 net carbs. I trust their counts. Hope this helps.

I got 14.8 carbs with 11.6 in fiber for one avocado so that gives you 3.2 net carbs. I used ****** and it did not say what size the avocado was.

CalorieKing says 17.1 carbs and 13.5 carbs for one 7.1 ounce avocado leaving you with 4.4 net carbs.

I think the different counts have to do with whatever size of avocado they initially use.

With this in mind, in the future, I will count them using ounces or grams. It will probably be more accurate to get a proper count.

Want a cool recipe for avocadoes? I dice them, add them with shredded cabbage and add a dressing of a few crushed cloves of garlic, a spoon of dried mint, the juice of one fresh lemon (or bottled) and as much olive oil as I can tolerate (usually about 3 Tlbs per batch). It's SO refreshing during the summer and my non-LCing DH LOVES it. Plus, it's very filling and nutritious and low in carbs.

Here is a great site for looking up nutritional values and everything you could possibly want to know about pretty much any food.

Diced avocado, tomato, cucumber, red onion, cilantro and a little lime juice all tossed together makes a nice summer salad too

I don't understand the whole "net carb" thing. When I did Atkins years ago I just counted whatever carbs were listed. That is how I started off this time too...I am npt sure I would even be in ketosis if I counted the other way! What's up with it please?

I was the same way when I came back to Atkins. The carbs that are fiber and are not soluble are considered 'sub-tractable' because they pass straight through the body and have no effect other than what fiber does in the gut.

Hollyjolly.. you take the carbs that is posted and you then subtract the fiber (if any) and that gives you the net carbs . You also subtract sugar alcohols including glycerin ( if any). If you look at one of the Atkins day break bar boxes it explains it on the side of the box. It really makes a difference! good Luck!!!
