What are your best substitutes for chips?

What do you all use to substitute for chips?

I mean, when you have that feeling when you just want to sit down, eat a bowl of chips, and maybe dip them in guacomole or blue cheese? What works best for that?

For dipping I would probably use some broccoli. But for chip cravings (salty, crispy) I use Green bean fries done extra crispy. And I just tried Spinach Chips those are really yummy. Some people also make Cleo's LC Doritos*

pork rinds...like the crunchiness. Don't like the flavor all that much, so I don't tend to overeat them. (and keeps me from over-eating my dips, too. usually cottage cheese/ranch dressing combos.)

I like BBQ flavored almonds or ranch flavored mixed nuts. I will also make microwave cheese chips. I have als taken a LC tortilla that I toast in the oven until crispy.

Lettuce ribs!
I get a head of romaine lettuce, cut it about 1/3 up from the bottom (save the top part for salads or wraps), and use that part for dipping. Very crunchy

This isn't a crunchy option, but as a vessel for dips (other than a spoon, lol)
artichoke leaves are a nice treat!

Also, I make crackers from Joseph's lavash. One huge bread is only 8 net carbs; it easily makes 16 big crackers or 32 small ones. I toast them in a pan with butter or olive oil; they get crunchy pretty quickly.

I wish I could say veggies, but, no! I have recently gotten into HOT pork rinds. I think they are Jimmy Johnson brand? They have a racing car on the bag and it's a smaller size bag. Pretty good. I can almost forget what I'm actually eating. (Gag!)

Thin sliced jicama works great, I like it with salsa, guacamole, blue cheese dressing, and spinach dip. Any veggies work great.

ohh I also just rememberd this receipe, its Kraft Deli Deluxe american cheese cut into 1x1 squares and put in a circle around the edge of parchment paper and microwaved for 60 seconds. It ends up tasting like cheese its.

I tear Mama Lupe's low carb tortillas (3 net carbs) into pieces and fry in oil on the stovetop. I have low carb tortilla chips for dipping, and I love them.

I eat chicharrones (pork rinds) and try not to visualize what it is I'm eating. But I love the crunch. I have also made cheddar cheese chips but they take up time to make and I don't want to overdo a good thing.

I like green bell pepper with regular cream cheese or phily flavored
cooking cream cheese (savory garlic) YUMMO !!

A lot less sodium than pork rinds , but still has the crunch!

I was wondering about those new Philadelphia cooking cream cheeses...are all the flavors you've tried good and do they have the same cal. and carb count as the reg. cream cheese? MMMMM!

There are several recipes for almond flour crackers and coconut flour crackers on this board. That's what I use unless I really can't bring myself to cook, then I use cashews or almonds in place of chips.

Lisa- unfortunately they have a higher carb count than regular cream cheese. Regular cream cheese is about 1 carb per ounce; these have a count of 5 or 6, depending on which one you get. Even the "original" flavor has 3g, I think. I remember seeing them in the store and getting excited about them until I saw the carb count..

This made me laugh. I also think pork rinds are pretty darned disgusting, and this coming from somebody who is not very picky about food at all.

I liked pepperoni slices, arranged on a paper towel and microwaved until they turned into little salty CRISPY crackers. Also a slice of cheese, cut into smaller squares, and nuked until crispy.

There are recipes in the Recipe Room for low carb crackers you can make for yourself. They're not really too 'cracker-y' but if you can't eat those anymore, these are a fine substitute. I enjoyed the ones I made quite a bit. If I remember correctly now, they were made out of almond flour/meal.

Nuts, first and foremost. But jicama, cuke or squash slices, microwave pork rinds if you're into them, flax crackers (made at home or purchased), homemade cheese chips, & the mini veggie platters from supermarkets can all be lifesavers.

I just tried the spinach chips! OMG I am in heaven! They are pretty thin but the crunch is there and depending on how you like your chips you also get the saltness too.

Whoever suggested them OMG you're a hero!
