Ketosis take longer on a restart?

Went out of state this past weekend. I didn't stay on plan, but I didn't go hog wild either-never even ordered dessert. The whole weekend, I think I had 6 fig newtons. But we did eat out a few times, and I had things like a sweet potato, grits(I was down south and thought I'd give them a try), and buns on burgers, etc.

All of this occured at my TOM too, to make matters worse. Anyhoo, I have eaten on plan since Monday-still not in ketosis and have actually gained more weight. I had gained 3 lbs initailly (based on Monday's weigh in) but today I am up a couple more pounds. What's up with that, delayed weight gain?

I usually go into ketosis very easily, within 2 days. Is your body more resistant to ketosis each time you go out and try to come back into it?

I think getting into ketosis depends on how many stored carbs you have to use up first--so each time may be different. Just hang in there--you should hit it soon. Exercise will also help burn some carbs out. As a note, even when I am in ketosis during PMS or TOM--it doesn't feel like it--no appetite control. Are you testing with sticks or just appetite control?

Yeah, good point. I am struggling with the appetite control right now, but I am also testing with the strips. I'm a big negative, not even a trace. But, I did have a spoonful of peanut butter yesterday-I really need to stay away from that, lol. I've been good today, though, lol.

no, I don't think it takes longer with time, I agree it's just the state your body happens to be in when you start. as to the continuing gaining, it's just your body sorting out the water retention and all. just stick with your woe and you will be fine.
