Did I cheat??

Friends came over tonight. I refrained from eating salt and vinegar chips, sorosis, chocolate rollos, and beer. Ordered dinner and everyone decided on Chinese food.

I ordered the usual stuff and an order of spiced beef and broccoli and chicken and mushrooms. Also had a little chicken chowmien.

My stomach has been cramping all night and I have had crazy diarrhea ever since. I am peeing like crazy (usually indicating a woosh).

So is all this negative factors telling me that I cheated??

I sure hope not. I have been good since feb 20th. I would hate to have blown it tonight. I just don't know what's in the seasoning.

Could you be sensitive to MSG? There's a lot of sodium in Chinese food too.

If you're pretty strict with carbs, chinese food sauces probably have more than you are used to. I don't know if I'd consider it cheating though, but I wouldn't suggest having it every night!

As far as I am concerned if you keep losing, you're doing it right.

I dont believe so. I ate Chinese food routinely prior to joining LC without issue. Tonigh my stomach is a mess. I can't sleep and feel gross. I can't help but feel that I blew it tonight. Very upsetting.

If it was the sodium why and I peeing so much??

Ouch. I'm not sure about your question, but I wanted to say I hope you feel better soon.

If the chow mein noodles had wheat in them that may be why your stomach is in knots. I never knew I was sensitive to wheat until I cut it out of my diet completely, then went and ate just one bite of a sandwich. I was in pain for two days! No more wheat for me!!

I also don't believe in thinking we're "blowing it" on this WOE by having something slightly off plan on rare occasions. You sounded very disciplined and diligent with your eating so you should be thrilled that you can look at all that carby Chinese food and still make good choices. That's triumph right there!

There could have been both sugar and corn starch in that food...lots of hidden carbs in Chinese food/sauces.

Chowmein was a cheat for sure...I know when I go off my LC plan, I have to pee alot (how DO you say that and still sound ladylike???) Just get back on track tomorrow....and don't let it get you down. It could have been worse. I would chalk it up to a small veer off track, but not completely!!!

Frequently the meat in Chinese food is "velveted" with cornstarch. It's a texture thing. Lots of carbs there. If you want Chinese food, you're usually better off cooking your own. The first time I did LC, in 2004, I used to always order Beef & Brocolli with no cornstarch and the sauce on the side. I basically got steamed brocolli and the beef. I could then decide how much of the sauce I wanted to further limit carbs.

And stop saying that you blew it! You made a mistake that you're not going to make again. Negative self-talk is self defeating. Get back up after you fall down. Just remember where you would've been if you'd never started. You're far removed from that alternative and you get to decide your future actions.

I had chinese food a few days ago and my stomach felt like a cement mixer, I only ate the meat but because of the sugar in the sauce and breading on the chicken my stomach was not happy. I had several trips to the bathroom and it took me until the next day to feel better....learned my lesson the hard way.

Hey, you did the best you could at the time. I wouldn't say you "cheated" unless you jump ship intentionally. It's a harsh word.

Just chug that water and eat clean today. You'll be fine

Another thought - even if that wasn't completely on plan does not mean you screwed everything up. Drop that all or nothing mentality, don't spend one more second stressing it, and keep trying.

I agree with all that's been said. Today is a new day!

And I gotta ask...

What is sorosis? I've never heard of it.

So funny about ssorosis my iPhone has auto spell. It was suppose to be doritos. Lol

As for the chowmien it is not noodles. It is chicken bean sprouts celery and a water/salt broth.

I hope it was a case of the msg killing my stomach.

I appreciate the comments about don't think all or nothing attitude. It's just you work so hard for so long and one little thing seems like a catastrophe.

I worry now about one thing. I can do LC for the rest of my life. It's really not a big deal. But I always thought that at goal weight it would be ok to eat a rice dish or pasta once every two weeks. But not sure if that is ever going to be ok now. Makes me worry about my WOE for the future.

So I did my Sunday weekly weigh in. I was scared because Of last night but I track my progress every Sunday.

So I jump on the scale and weigh in at 198. So after being so mad St myself i dropped another lb. Last Sunday I was 199 but quickly went up to 200 to 201. So there you have it. I will not be eating Chinese food again anytime soon

It may be because of the tummy issues. But the peeing yesterday led me to believe that a woosh was on the way. But still felt so bad for eating what I did

Thanks for the support everyone
