Cottage Cheese?

I love cottage cheese and had a little last night for a treat. Does anyone use it on a daily basis? I would like to be able to eat a cup maybe with my tuna for lunch. As long as I figure the carb count into my daily allowance (<20) should there be a problem?

Just trying to get some variety.

Hi Jooser…
I'm one who just holds to a daily limit, and if a food fits into it then I'll include it.

I have no issues with dairy, including yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese etc. and use them sparingly without any issues. Variety for me is pretty important, since I plan on this being a long term way of eating (the rest of my life).

I eat it daily also. It's definitely a staple in my diet. (But I rarely go below 50 carbs per day) It's an EXCELLENT source of casein protein, which digests slower and is very satisfying and great for preserving/fueling muscle.

I make Cottage Cheese Blizzards out of a HOST of things, to include:

-roasted chopped almonds
-nat PB
-whey protein
-casein protein (ON's Chocolate Cake Batter!)
-Fiber One
-blueberries
-flax
-s/f Davinci's
-EV Coconut Oil
-walnuts
-oats

I eat it a few times a week, but usually 1/2c or less at a time because too much upsets my stomach. I either eat it whipped in a blender with cocoa powder and EZ Sweetz or, I mix it in a salad.

there is 1 cottage cheese i worship. i have it when on sale.

Friendship 1% whipped. Not because it is low fat, but because it tastes like dessert as is right out of the container. a 16 oz container is 4 portions @ 3 gr carb each. But, i often do not stop with 1 portion. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

I love it, but try to limit the amount---- only because it is surprisingly high in sodium, and I'm sensitive to that.

I love cottage cheese and eat it a few times a week.
It's low enough in carbs that I don't feel guilty.

It is evil! Cottage cheese has to be the number one item that has the potential to ruin my LC status. I love it so much that I really have issues with the control part of it even being in the house. Forget about the carrot cake or the fudge brownies, they don't even tempt me. Cottage cheese, this harmless looking white fluffy cheesey stuff is my wolf in lamb's clothing. Therefore, I have banished it from the house. If I wish to treat myself I will buy one container and try and spread it's consumption out over several days. Then, no more in the house for weeks.

OMG! This is how my DH and I eat it. I'd never heard of anybody eating cottage cheese with pepper on it until I met him, but it's good. It's still weird, but it's good.

He also eats his cantaloupe with pepper on it. Now that is weird.

My husband does black pepper and hot sauce on his cottage cheese. It's really gross to watch him eat it

Now.... that's not going to happen. I'll just stick with the weirdness level of the black pepper, but I can't kick it up to the hot sauce level.

I eat it around 2-3x per week. I haven't read fully the Atkins book, but I have read the South Beach and they let you eat cottage cheese, so if I am in my carb allowance I don't see a problem with it.

I used to eat it with canned peaches or pears, but now its mostly just plain or if I need a sweet treat a little splenda and some cinnamon (in place of South Beachs gross "riccota" desserts)....

What a fabulous idea. I usually have the natural almonds on hand. I'll add some chopped almonds, fresh blueberries and some Fiber One cereal the next time and mix those three things into my cottage cheese. Sounds yummy for breakfast!

Thats me too. I can not do cottage cheese with fruit. Ground pepper all the way. Although, I'm not allowing myself to eat it right now. When I'm ready, for sure will it be part of my food plan.

I eat Frank's or Sriracha on just about everything else, but I just can't do it on cottage cheese. Cottage cheese is just so... dairy-ish!

I used to add canned chicken breast and mix in some original Cholula hot sauce and it was quite tasty during my Stillman days.

it's generally too carby for me, but I have been eating the Fiber One cottage cheese lately with 3 grams net carbs per half cup. it's not as good as the best ones, but it's ok. the best have that little tang to them, and the texture is integral, not the normal "balls in cream" texture modern commercial cottage cheeses seem all to have!

The Daisy brand cottage cheese has a little bit of "the tang" in it if you can find it.
