The picture of what fat looks like compared to muscle

Can someone please post that picture showing 5 lbs of fat next to 5 lbs of muscle? I have it--but I can't send it for some reason.

I think this picture says a thousand words because so many people are having problems with slow weight loss. This will show that even a 'measly' five lbs of fat is really a HUGE different in how we look.

We need to know that much more than a few lbs of fat per week only means water or muscle loss. If someone is REALLY losing 2-3 lbs of fat per week--heck, even 1 lb--that's a great job and a tremendous different in the way we will look. Too much 'fat' loss and the body may think something's wrong and try to backfire on us.

So don't despair. My kids haven't lost that much doing LC--but if you see them, you will notice a huge difference in their body structures and the way their clothes are fitting. Guess the scale loss is not showing because they are both in teenage growth spurts now and probably adding muscle/bone density

If that doesn't make you want to get rid of the extra lbs, I don't know what will.

BEN--YES! Thank you. I had another one with a black background--but this is it! I also heard (correct me if wrong) that 5 lbs of fat takes up the space of a milk carton! If that's true, just imagine what a few lb loss does for us each week!!!!!

I hope this helps some people realize that losing only 1 or 2 lbs each week isn't bad--in fact, it's wonderful Might help us too get the weights out

If any of you camera experts out there could help, it would be nice to see that chunk of fat in comparison with something else to a realistic comparison.

Again--thanks Ben.

Additional Note. I just read that 1 lb of fat is about 2 cups. That means 5 lbs would be 10 cups or half a gallon plus a pint. A picture would be nice

So all you who are down on your losses, start measuring your success in cups of fat: a cup off the arms, a few off the butt, one off the stomach...... :lofl:

just a note....if someone is complaining about losing 'only' 2-3 pounds per week, or even 1...they need to feel lucky! Some people lose a LOT slower than that, and some of the finest people I know on this site have been stuck without a loss for a long time. So COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS!!

2-3 pounds per week is a GREAT loss. I would LOVE to be losing like that. BE HAPPY.

WOE: Modified LC.
Thanks for this.... A lot of the girls I work with like the crash diets and cleanse's. "lose ten in ten" etc.

Why were they not concerned with *what* they lost, just so long as the # on the scale looked impressive. When I first started LC, at my height I was at a weight many may have considered goal. After the initial 6-7 pounds in induction, it moved very slowly. But I was more then fine with it. It was the extra FAT on my frame I wanted to lose.... my bones, teeth, muscles I wanted to keep.

I agree! I would be so happy with 2-3 pounds a week any day!
I followed Atkins and even went bare minimum without much weight loss at all. I lost about 10 pounds in 2 years. How's that for slow?
Your 2-3 pounds look good now, huh? LOL.

Congrats! Seriously, celebrate all losses. It's all a step in the right direction.
