Question for chocolate eaters

If you include chocolate as part of your plan, what do you eat? Brand and amount and how often? Thanks!

asbrown 03-07-2011 05:12 PM

I just discoverd sugar free Hershey's. I just eat them a couple of times a week. I love the Reese's cups and caramel filled ones.

Hi Christine…
I do…in the form of Cocoa powder in my refrigerator candy and in just about every diet candy I love; Russel Stovers Low Carb stuff (Turtles, peanut butter cups, mints etc) and Hershey low carb mini milk chocolate, and somebody's chocolate coated carmels and Chocolite Triple Chocolate Bars, and Atkin's Endulge bars (Cashew Nut chews and Chocolate Coconut).

We buy/eat Breyers CarbSmart Chocolate Ice cream and frozen fudgesicle bars too.

Oh yeah - there are the chocolate protein powder and the Wally-world sugar free Chocolate topping sauce too.

Oh yeah - almost forgot the Emerald Dark Chocolate Cocoa-Roast coated almonds.

At least 5 days a week, and a single serving of which ever I choose.

Lindt 85%, as needed. It usually only takes a square, which blew me away as I'd never (to my recollection) eaten only part of a chocolate bar.

ETA: Looked up the nutritional facts - 8 total carbs for four squares.

Ditto!!!! I found the same thing with any chocolate 72% or higher.

Thanks for the info, everyone!

ncgirl 03-07-2011 05:29 PM

Lindt 99%, 3 small squares (they are smaller than the other Lindts). I like my chocolate really dark :)

Vanessa120 03-07-2011 05:37 PM

Lindt 90%, Lindt 85% & Green & Blacks 85%
I eat a 1/2 serving at a time, almost daily!

itsmeshelly01 03-07-2011 05:37 PM

Godiva 86% here. 1 square is all I need with maybe a little bit of natural pb spread on top. I use unsweetened cocoa in coconut bark and in my protein shakes. I don't eat the sf chocolate. The maltitol gives me issues.

goheels 03-07-2011 05:41 PM

Green & Black, 85% is my favorite.

mcneilnomore 03-07-2011 05:43 PM

I'm another one who, on occasion, eats the lindt 85%. Ive dipped it in peanut butter and a peanut butter-cream cheese spread.

coffeeandcream 03-07-2011 06:00 PM

I am scared of adding chocolate

hippiegirl 03-07-2011 06:30 PM

Hmm...gonna have to check out the Green and Black.

hippiegirl 03-07-2011 06:30 PM

My younger son always says I'm on the "protein and chocolate diet".

Eliza_Jazz 03-07-2011 06:42 PM

OK, I'm officially drooling. Haven't had any chocolate in 2 months, may venture into eating some after reading this.

IslandAnne 03-07-2011 07:14 PM

Yep. I have some when I feel like it..... A square of 85% Lindt I find satisfying 100% or equivalent from my local chocolatier. (Back in the day, I couldn't wolf down enough chocolate candy bars! and didn't like the dark stuff.... how palettes change)

jem51 03-07-2011 07:16 PM

I love dark but the 72%...yep more sugar/carbs.
I don't enjoy the 85% at all and that's not good. Chocolate should always be enjoyed.

I do love the RS dark but will try just about any since it is not the greater part of my diet.

sistertzu 03-07-2011 07:36 PM

My new favorite as I'm nut and dairy free right now is chocolate sorbet. It's so easy. Boil 2 cups water, take off the heat, stir in 8 ounces of unsweetened chocolate until melted, add 1/2 cup equivalent sweetener (preferably not splenda) a pinch of salt and a couple teaspoons of vanilla, whirl in blender, chill and churn in ice cream maker. I'm going to half this recipe and try it as a chocolate sauce. So yummy!!!

fawn 03-07-2011 07:42 PM

green and black 85%, 1/2 the bar when I buy it because I have no portion control. Consequently, I rarely buy one.......yes, I'm an addict 11 years later.

shirlc 03-07-2011 07:49 PM

Has anyone tried this:

Divine Chocolate

I've bought it at our local food coop and really like it.

Also like RS toffee squares and Eskimo Pie ice cream bars.

shirlc 03-07-2011 07:50 PM

Oops, sorry I forgot about the posting links thing.

Izzybeff 03-07-2011 07:55 PM

Just tonight I took one square of Lindt, melted it with peanut butter and mixed it with walnuts. It was terrific! Can't stand dark chocolate on it's own.

Lucky4 03-07-2011 08:28 PM

I'll eat anything that isn't nailed down :D I usually eat .5 ounce of the dark stuff unless my carbs are high that day. Sometimes, I make my own by melting baking chocolate, Splenda and almonds. Recently, I've been replacing it with my clouds--but I always keep some on hand for busy days--love the caffeine!

ouizoid 03-07-2011 09:20 PM

99% bar from World Market. The best bar ever. 1 square is 1 carb and so delicious.

Ouis

Larry!

Are these really good? I buy the others (natural and dry roasted) every week, but just can't bring myself to be disappointed!

Thanks!

Nikki232 03-08-2011 01:30 AM

Yummy Chocolate ;)I havent dabbled in this area yet. You guys make me want it now  Has any stalled on chocolate bars? I think i will go get some of the ones that were suggested this weekend, and see how it treats me. Thxs

stardustshadow 03-08-2011 01:51 AM

I use cocoa powder all the time (in drinks and LC candy like coconut bark). I also very occasionally (usually during TOM) have a bit of super dark chocolate. I like Green and Black or Lindt. There are other brands I have tried, too, but I have not seen them in the US.

I eat a small package of them almost everyday. I really like them. I mostly pick these instead of the natural because of the low sodium. There's a lot of difference.

ChristineCQ 03-08-2011 05:07 AM

Well, now I just want to go ahead and try ALL of this! :D

lcditto 03-08-2011 05:24 AM

Low carb specialties, choco perfection bars. I use their sweet perfection also. No intestinal problems with their sweetener. I was using the chocolate chips but now I see they have discontinued them.

tulipsandroses 03-08-2011 05:47 AM

I make Chocolate OMM all the time. I like Trader Joe's Cocoa or their baking chocolate.

As far as candy, occasionally I have Simply Lite Chocolate from Trader Joe's. It does have Sugar Alcohols so that keeps me honest about only having 2-3 pieces. 1 Bar will last me quite a long time.
