What scale is most accurate?

Tried to weigh myself this morning and it weighed me anywhere from 283 to 293?? Each time I stepped on it it gave me a different number! A pound or two I might overlook, but 10 pounds?!
I need a new scale!

So my question is: What scale do you use that is most accurate?

Any suggestions would be super! Thanks for your help!!

I use a Tanita and it is very accurate. Weighs right with my Dr office.

Where there is less gravity. The best way to weigh in is, lay on your back and balance the scale on your feet.

Measure yourself and watch for a decrease in inches. A pound of fat takes up more space than a pound of muscle.

A doctor's scale with sliding weights is the most consistent and probably accurate.

Digital scales are fairly inexpensive and tend to give fairly accurate, predictable results, although mine seems to not be as sensitive than others - I can weigh myself, then go to the bathroom and weigh the same on it... how does that work?

Analog scales (with springs and spinning dials) are not accurate above 250 pounds in my experience. you have to step on slowly, in the same place every time and stand flat footed and don't rock on your feet and it may weigh you the same more than once. I've had several scales move as I'm bending over to read them (cuz my belly's in the way to see it just tipping my head down.) shifting your weight side to side can make the dial spin like crazy.

I've also noticed that several of my scales in the past have weighed differently in different rooms. How solid the floor is under them makes a difference.

This is the best scale I have ever owned. It weighs me the same every time. Great reviews on Amazon too! I love it because I don't have to tap it or bang it to get it to work just step right on! Really, it is great, and I am a scale snob lol!

I use our WII balance board--I did research it earlier on it's accuracy and found almost everyone thinks it's very accurate. It weighed me more than my Dr's scale though--but she was using a simple digital which suprised me. My mom has a sliding weight Dr's scale so next time I get there, I'll compare it with the WII. I have a normal scale here which is hilarious. If yours gives you 10 lb difference--this one can give up to a 30 lb difference!

This is my answer too. I love my digital Health-O-Meter, it's always been right on!

I have only replaced mine once in about 9 years. It is the best in my opinion.

I have this one and really like it.

Amazon.com: Omron HBF-400 Body Fat Monitor and Scale:...Amazon.com: Omron HBF-400 Body Fat Monitor and Scale:...

I bought it from my workplace and the service department checked the accuracy before I took it home and it was right on the money.

I have a Tanita from the drugstore. it's key to put it on a FLAT surface, no tile cracks or anything, which can really influence what the scale says. usually large differences are attributable to the scale not being supported properly, though some of the older spring-style scales were just inaccurate! I used to be able to change mine by five pounds just leaning hard left...

be sure you get one that's rated well above your current weight too.

I can reweigh over and over and mine never varies. it also seems to agree with the doctor's scales at several offices over years of visits. a good investment!

the BAD thing is that it keeps your past weight. I do not want that. it embarrasses me! I have to weigh this large vase every time I step off the scale to clear the memory. it's a drag. I would look for one with no memory function when I get a new one.

Don't weigh on carpet or uneven floors!! I was looking to buy a scale and tried some in the store (this is right before I started Atkins) and got a ton of alarming differences. It turns out that the store was carpeted and I had not realized how much the floor surface would affect what the scale said.

Anyhow...the best scale to use? The one on the moon....(lower gravity)....

Purchased the Health o Meter @ Walmart for $35. It measures weight up to 450, body fat, hydration, BMI, bone mass, and will store your info. up to the last 12 readings. Also stores up to 4 people using separate buttons for each. Accurate!
