Shiritaki Noodles

I read on here about these tofu noodles and found some at my local Sprouts Market. I just made a chicken/veg stir fry and put these in at the very end and they were pretty great. They definitely filled that texture craving I've been missing. They have them in both ramen type noodle and wider egg type noodle. The trick to making them seem like regular noodles is to wash them thoroughly. They get packaged in water and smell kinda fishy when you first drain them. They lost any of that kind of taste once I rinsed them and stuck them in the microwave for a minute.
I am very jazzed that I can make yummy noodle soups again! I hope they keep me on track since I've been kind of eating very little other than meat, eggs and LC veg.

What is the carb count on these? Also, where do you find them at?

I use the yam ones instead of tofu and I like them a lot too. I often eaten them is super spicy sauce bc I miss having really hot spicy food (I used to live off spicy spaghetti!).

I rinse mine thoroughly and then pan dry them so they'll absorb the flavour of my sauce. I'd LOVE to try a noodle soup - I haven't eaten soup since I started this. I'll have to look in the recipe for some soup ideas.

I found the one's I used at a Health food market, but I gather you can also find them at Asian markets and even order them online. The carb count I saw was <1g per serving and the package was 2 servings.

Last night I had spinach shirataki noodles. They were great ! I've tried the yam ones, not bad - but I prefer the plain fettucini-shaped or now, the spinach. I pan-fried some shrimp with oil and butter, added some chili pepper flakes.......tossed in the well-rinsed spinach shirataki noodles - voila ! Perfect, tastey, eye-appealing meal. I live in Ontario, Canada and they are approximately $2.00/pkg, but well worth it.

My absolute favorite is mini pearls from Miracle Noodles. I also like the Ditalini....much easier to work with than the angel hair. I also like the orzo in soup. They recently came out with a Rice product...but I haven't tried it yet, I still have quite a bit of mini pearls to work thru!
