Atkins Mocha Latte shake - caffeine?

Hi, I tried one of the Atkins shakes and picked up the Mocha Latte. I noticed that it says it is made with real coffee and lists it as an ingredient. However, I looked and it does not list caffeine as an ingredient. Does this possibly mean it is decaf? I hope so! It tasted really good. I do have caffeine just try to limit it two cups of coffee in the morning. Not very strong either.

if it has coffee in it, the caffeine would come "packaged" in that and not be a separate ingredient to be listed. I don't think you can assume it's decaf because it's not listed there.

why don't you write or call them and ask? there is almost always some contact info on the packaging, even if it takes a magnifying glass to find it... or just go to their website and ask.

Thanks for the idea to contact them directly. I just went to their website and emailed the company to inquire about it. Thanks!

Hi this was the response I got from an Atkins representative. Nice to know. The mocha latte and the caramel both appear to have more caffiene in them. Kind of wish this would have been on the labels if anything because some people (me in particular) can be sensitive to higher amounts of caffiene. Granted it did have "coffee" on the label just not if it's decaf or even how much. I have to limit my intake of it. At least they were very helpful in letting me know. Not something I will drink every day. Possilby would be willing to swap out one coffee for one of these once in awhile though. The caramel I was surprised at the amount in it though. See below.

"Yes, there is real coffee in the Mocha Latte and Café Caramel Shakes. The caffeine in the Milk Chocolate Delight and Dark Chocolate Royale Shakes is naturally occurring from the chocolate itself. Please see below for more detailed information. =)"

Caffeine Calcium
US Milk Chocolate Delight RTD Shake 3.4 mg 448 mg
US Dark Chocolate Royale RTD Shake 7.6 mg 454 mg
US Vanilla RTD Shake 0 mg 443 mg
US Strawberry RTD Shake 0 mg 443 mg
US Mocha Latte RTD Shake 55.3 mg 450 mg
US Café Caramel RTD Shake 77.9 mg 447 mg

Its worth it. Caramel latte is really good. I rotate the flavors so I don't get tired of one. Also, I don't drink them on the weekend.

Well I will say after drinking the mocha one yesterday I did not notice anything at all with the caffiene. So that's good. May try the caramel one next b/c I LOVE anything caramel.

I put this in another thread, but I'm an avid bargain shopper/shopaholic, so I love to share!

WalMart has the 6packs for $6.27, but only vanilla. However, if you have a Publix where you live, they usually have all the flavors and they are on sale right now for $3.99 a 4pack!!!

I drink them only during the week too Jambabob, they are a life saver at work!!!

Wow good info to know. I have been adding a via instant starbucks packet to the mocha latte for added coffee flavor. After reading this I see that I have been taking in way more caffeine than I realized. Thanks.

Your right about the 6 packs Sara, We just picked up a pack of each Vanilla and Chocolate from Wal-Mart last week. My wife saw that and called me right away!!! The RTD shakes are super convenient during the work week. They totally keep me full until lunch. I am currently rotating between Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Mocha and Caramel. My wife surprises me with the flavor every morning. By the way, don’t freeze them, they are nasty when thawed. I do leave them in the freezer for about 10 minutes to get them super cold though.

The Mocha Latte 450 mg is equal to four strong cups of coffee. I need to be careful with it! But I like Walmart's prices on them (About 6 bucks) and how they cure my sweet cravings sometimes.
