Oh yes, I'm a vase! I've also seen it called a spoon. Have very narrow shoulders, not much in the way of a butt but plenty of belly there in the wide part of the spoon! I used to be a different shape ten years ago...but my bust was larger than my hips then - cornet shape.

I'm a goblet! Heavy on top, small on the bottom...SO true!

Their tips on how to dress for your shape are really helpful, too.

I'm more of an apple, but i think i am fuller in the shoulders and arms than the example... i tend to gain weight all over pretty evenly - and lose the same way...and it is true, that at this weight i really have to lose maybe 30 lbs to 40 lbs before anyone even notices...heck it was nothing for me to fluxuate up and down 9-12 lbs with PMS before my TOM... still hanging in here- closing in on the end of week 2 of Induction. I'm doing this!!! lol! thanks y'all...

That was a cool body type deal. I'm totally an hour glass but, I can't imagine wanting to wear fitting clothes and heels. I think I would rather be comfortable.

Thanks guys

After reading all those body types, I'm still more of an hourglass and I look lots smaller if I wear a fitted top vs. a straight or baggy one. After my excess skin is gone it will probably be even more so.

5'6", 174 lbs, size 12 pants, size L tops. I am not sure what shape I am...maybe more of an hourglass, since I carry my weight all over. The last place I lose weight is in my arms, which is really frustrating because heavy arms make you look much bigger than you are and make it tough to wear sleeveless tops even when smaller. I would like to be a size 8 and hopefully get my arms down to looking "athletic" rather than "old lady jiggle". :-)

It really is motivating to see all the different shapes and sizes at different hights and weights. Just reinforces that we are all unique, and we should only measure ourselves against what is right and healthy for US, not against what works for someone else!

you know, the way sizes are so screwed up, asking measurements would probably be a better question.

This is so true! I don't even know where to begin in ordering clothes off the internet since I've lost weight. Before, I had an idea of where I was at. Now I used to store stuff I bought if it was too little when it arrived hoping for that someday. Passed those up though. Got to find my measuring tape too. I need to really check out those size charts to see where I'm at for each site! Why can't they just standardize sizes?

thats were they getcha people will pay more money for clothes if they can wear a smaller size.
10 to 15 $ MORE FOR A SIZE 8 or less for a 10 or 12 Ego boost I might do it.
Wouldn't you love your smaller "size" more even if it's just on the tag? Maybe just one pair? Just like paying 100$ or more for a great pair of flashy jeans, or those special shoes. The ones that make your legs look killer?

I do think it makes shopping hard and more time to try on everything. But with so many different cuts, styles and shapes of clothes if not buying T-shirts I couldn't buy anything online.

I couldn't buy online either, I am shaped weird, smaller on my bottom, so I have to try on every thing before I buy it. Different brands fit so much differently, same size on labels but totally different once you try them on.

I'm 5'7" and currently wear a size 6 in some jeans, 8 in others. Most tops are now mediums. When I started last March, I was 165 pounds wearing 12's and 14's and large in most tops. I think when I get the last excess belly fat off I'll wear a 4 mostly. I have to tell you that these sizes sound so deliciously small, but over the years, sizes have changed downwards for vanity reasons. I really do believe the 6's I wear today were probably equal to 8's or even 10's about 20 years ago. In any case, sizes vary according to brand, and I'm after looking a certain way and it's not all about a particular size. I find it hard to believe anyone wears the same size all the time.

call me a cheapskate but i will not pay more for just a smaller size. Actually i am a cheapskate. Do smaller clothes really cost more than fat clothes? Cuz that confuses me?

No, because I don't want to be in a particular clothing size. I want to be in a particular weight range.

Chantyl, I have not seen smaller sizes costing more than larger, but I have seen expensive jeans that claim to make you look a size smaller by holding you in somehow, like built-in shapewear.

Trinny and Susannah's site is confusing. I am an hourglass I guess. The cello didn't fit me and the vase was close. Maybe I am a combination of all 3. Who knows. I just know I have wide shoulder/hips and a small waist. I have to dress in fitted clothes or I will look frumpy.

I buy all my clothes online (mostly because it is impossible to get larger than a us 12 in France- but now I don't have to worry about that!). I measure myself and go by their size guides- though I think there is less vanity sizing in the uk- and I order from UK sites. My mom is Scottish- and I may be wrong, but I believe it used to be only one size difference between uk and us sizes. For example she was a uk 14 and US 12. Now there are 2. I'm willing to bet the UK 14 has stayed the same- but that is now a US 10.

And like afuentes- as an hourglass I look frumpy/larger if my clothes aren't form fitting.

Ugh, it would be SO frustrating to shop in France!!!

You are right about the UK/US size stuff, but it also depends on if it is womens or misses...I have noticed a difference in the number of sizes between them depending on brand.

I also look frumpy/larger if my clothes are not form fitting (though I am NOT an hour glass at ALL....a 'goblet' is what I am..straight up and down but heavier on top with skinny legs!). I think it is having a large chest that makes it hard for me to wear bigger or baggier clothes without looking bigger. It just looks really frumpy.
